Plant Technical Director, North & South America

Akzo Nobel, Marine & Protective Coatings

Directed Technical Operations for 3 sites on 2 continents, leading teams of 20 supply chain and operations employees with multiple manager-level reports. Responsibilities included product management, product development, QA/QC for all product lines, military, industrial and commercial customer experience, business and process improvement and corporate sustainability initiatives.

Solved issue with U.S. Military within three months of joining the organization, salvaging at $10M contract

Spearheaded integration of 1.8M gallons of additional product volume on top of 6M gallon base annual capacity. 

Implemented an IT-based solution the shot sample inventory tracking accuracy from 80% to 98%+

Managed relationship of vendor with $1M of aged product in inventory, persuading them to take possession and freeing up warehouse space to save $200K in disposal costs

Reduced the number of customer complaints from 30-40 a month to only 8-9 concurrent open items

Recruited top talent, on-boarded and cross-trained new teams; maintained a 0% turnover rate in top performers. Instituted training plan that doubled the accuracy rate of technicians. Cross-training teams eliminated 50% increase in cycle time due to production volume increases.

National City Bank (acquired by PNC Financial Services)

Created new business opportunities by cultivating relationships with businesses, business owners and C-level executives.Responsible for all transactions in Chemicals and Materials Industry. 

Led and implemented an IT platform to sell client companies with $10M in revenues or less. 

Sourced several lucrative deals, due to expertise in chemical engineering, representing 20% in deal fees backlog against $8M potential revenue.

Brokered sale/purchase agreement of 2 clients companies at an average of 10% above the proposed valuation range. 

Built an Excel-based CRM mitigating $25K in annual licensing expenses

Wachovia Securities, LLC (acquired by Wells Fargo)

Advised on a variety of corporate finance strategies including initial and secondary public equity offerings, debt recapitalizations, mergers and acquisitions that required authoring investor, bank, rating agency presentations and offering memorandums. 

Closed transaction deal list including $402M Sealy Mattress Initial Public Offering (IPO), $110M Texas Roadhouse secondary equity offering and $488M Springs Industries.

Authored analysis case that persuaded Wachovia Credit Committee to commit $50M participation to loan and recapitalize The Natural Products Group $340M of debt syndication

Convinced executive leadership to invest in a $200k+ equity analyst to cover the newly formed Personal Care Industry practice.

Lead a cross-organizational strategy team in the prioritization and trade-offs of multi-million dollar capital projects, rationalizing 250 projects to below 100

Successfully spearheaded company-wide implementation of $1.4B capital land expense management program across 22 global manufacturing sites, saving 22% of plan.
