Operations Project Manager

Bank Of America

Provided project management and process analysis for various teams and initiatives in the Consumer Real Estate Division encompassing Mortgage, Home Equity Loan and Reverse Mortgage Servicing. Responsibilities included project management of strategic and tactical projects; process review for inefficiencies and redesign; strategic Online Banking and Marketing development as well as print vendor relationship management. This required interaction with all levels of management and direct management of project resource from the line of business, IT, contractors, vendors and related departmental subject matter experts (SME).

 Achievements: 

  • Managed a two year project RFP to the actual execution of moving Home Equity and Reverse Mortgage statement and letter print from one vendor to another. The process included the creation of the RFP to solicit print vendor bids, cost benefit analysis of the proposals, contract negotiation, vendor selection and project management of internal print teams, line of business, IT and vendor resources to accomplish the move. The project included moving over 2MM statements and letters; revising the HELOC and RM statement formats; socializing with various business, risk, legal and support management levels; and modification of the document retention/presentment processes. The project will result in an annual print and postage savings of $2.3MM+ year over year.
  • Was pursuing a Six Sigma Green Belt certification having taken all required classes and managing an Online Banking project to suppress paper statements. I recently completed the Define Tollgate and was in the beginnings of the Measure phase.
  • Worked to develop a strategic approach to online banking for the core products. This included marketing, online details processes, e-Billing, statements redesign and document retention. Resources included risk, legal, online banking LOB, online banking and line of business IT, contract resources and marketing vendors. The results were presented to executive management of each group in a major conference for adoption setting the 3 years plan for CRE Servicing.
  • Co-Project Manager for implementing detailed Mortgage detailed information for Online banking through our servicing platform partner Fidelity.
  • Assisted in the Country Wide transition projects for Online Banking, Brand Modification, Electronic Payments, Mortgage and HELOC Account Conversion.
  • Served as a Servicing SME for the Online Banking Details project that was developed to provide Online customers with greater account details similar to our Checking and Card Products.

Technical Project Manager

Wachovia Bank

Application project management for the Electronic Services Division which included managing project teams consisting of 20 +/- business, operations, IT and vendor respurces in support of several large departments including Automated Clearing House, International ACH, Wire Transfers, Integrated Payables/Integrated Receivables, Wachovia Connection and Global Funds Transfers to provide or enhance electronic payment application capabilities for Wachovia's largest corporate clients. 

Achievements:     

  • Led Electronic Services as PM for IP/IR, ACH and WC departments during the creation of the IACH product in conjunction with International IT, International Product, two international partner banks, Account Analysis, DDA and G/L for one and one half years and two delivery phases. The five year income projection was valued at $24 million dollars.
  • Served as PM for an IP/IR project team in creating an RFP for selection of a new vendor for the printing of checks. Liaised with our internal Strategic Sources group to determine the target candidates, created the RFP package and developed a scoring approach to determine the final vendor resulting in a $500,000 annual savings on printing costs.
  • Headed a Risk project team, based on regulatory needs, to analyze the effectiveness of customer "points of entry" controls in place for access to Electronic Services. The team identified two of 58 access points as potential electronic avenues of weak control requiring remediation. This eliminated exposure of approximately $9 million dollars monthly to potential external fraud.
  • Led an ACH project team that created an operational and application control process to provide transaction validations for system to system monetary transfers. This validation process fortified the security surrounding the $4 billion dollars per year ACH processes.
  • Managed web based payables project providing our customers with access to an external vendor providing electronic means of managing electronic and paper invoicing while maximizing income on net-30 day billing discounts. Income projected to be $2 million per year.
  • PM for customer migration of 256 large corporate accounts from legacy IBM mainframe platform to our web based electronic servicing platform resulting in $70,000 per year maintenance savings.
  • Project lead for the synchronization of the ACH application to the TRE risk evaluationapplication in order to provide 365x24x7 access to our corporate ACH customers.

Operations Project Manager

Wachovia Mortgage Company

Responsible for project management for the Risk Management, Servicing, Financial Control and Accounting divisions for the Mortgage Division. This included leadership of multiple project teams of varying size and composition within the Mortgage Company Operations, Mortgage Sales force, the General Banking Group and associated vendors.

Achievements:

  • Implemented the Motivator, a vendor software package to provide the Mortgage division with an incentive compensation system for remunerating Mortgage Loan Consultants in conjunction with the retail Bank. The system processed upwards of $5 million per year.
  • Initiated the FORMS project for installing MERS technology for assigning Mortgage titles to a third party, deploying document delivery via email and fax to external attorneys and replacing our static documentation with dynamic updateable represented and warranted forms via an external document vendor solution. The project reduced per package cost by 30%.
  • Co-managed the introduction of a new project methodology to streamline the process of project prioritization based on intrinsic project value. The new process decreased executive project review and decision time by 50% by quantifying the decision-making process.
  • Conceived, created and managed a company golf tournament for the Mortgage Company to provide team building between executive management, vendors and employees. Led the tournament for two years resulting in charitable contributions by the company to the local Multiple Sclerosis Society of $5,000 and $9,000.
  • Led a Mainframe modification project of Risk documentation in order to meet upcoming compliance and regulatory requirements.
