Responsibilities included local, national and trade media relations; employee communications; crisis communications; issues management; publication design and production; special events; speechwriting; and research services. Managed a staff of nine and a budget of $1.2 million. Major accomplishment: Created and coordinated comprehensive external and internal communications programs supporting a planned acquisition of the company.
Direct all public relations, marketing communications, publications, membership communications, advertising, social media, and video production activities for the public policy voice of the 17,000-member U.S. actuarial profession. Responsibilities include message development; website development and maintenance; magazine and newsletter production; speechwriting; development, design, production and rollout of marketing communications and collateral materials; video production; advertising development and placement; national and trade media relations; social media; issues management; and crisis communications and planning. Manage a staff of six and a budget of $1,100,000. Major accomplishments: update and migrate a 12-year-old website to a content management system architecture, create digital advertising campaigns, launch video programming initiative, launch new member digital newsletters, and revise and update long updated membership collaterals.

Managed a staff of eight and a budget of $2,000,000. Major accomplishments: Wrote and produced the company’s first-ever television and radio commercials; managed re-branding of company; researched and produced comprehensive weekly issues management report; expanded local and national media coverage; published the first hospice corporate social responsibility report; developed a comprehensive toolkit and presentation to assist and guide staff in how to respond to objections arising from the company’s status as a for-profit hospice provider.

Responsibilities included media relations support for published research and clinical breakthroughs; management of local media relations activities; public relations support for rollout of new programs and services; development and maintenance of the “Press Room” on The Cleveland Clinic’s website; issues management; and crisis communications. Managed a staff of six and a budget of $700,000. Major accomplishments: Launched The Cleveland Clinic’s own video news reports on http://www.ccf.org/ to counter declining coverage by local newscasts.

Major accomplishment: Planned and implemented comprehensive communications program to support highly contentious multi-year disputes with larger competitor centering on certificate of need and antitrust issues.
