Hard Worker
From a very young age my parents told me that I would need to work hard to achieve any goals I had.  I have never forgotten that.  I believe that you get exactly what you put into life so you should always put your best forward.  I am extremely dedicated to the teaching profession.  In all of my work experiences I have remained punctual, respectful and determined.
Throughout my entire life I have needed to remain organized in order to optimize the learning I do as a student.  As a teacher I wish to instil this mindset into my students because it is important in every aspect of your life from writing an essay, preparing for an exam, or preparing a lesson.
Dedication and Passion for Youth Education
Although I am still a student in the Bachelor of Education program, I feel that I have been teaching youth for many years now.  While in my hometown I work at the local Tim Horton's and help to train employees.  When I was at Algoma University I helped to tutor a student who was having trouble in a music course.  When working with Children's Aid Society I helped group of children from age three to fifteen accomplish various things from tying their shoes to using Audacity (a music recording program).  While giving voice lessons either freelance or with Boc Tu Roc Academy of Music I needed to prepare lessons for the students I had.  I treated each situation uniquely.  Now, I am a Bachelor of Education student and have already completed my first practicum.  All of these experiences I have done with a kind and empathetic heart to all involved.

Student Teacher

Algoma District School Board

By acting as a student teacher I received valuable hands on experience. I had my own management plan in place with the students, as well as a set of routines. I made sure to plan lessons that would appeal to all types of learners by differentiating the process of my teaching, the environment, and at times the content.  This was extremely helpful for the students I taught with IEPs.  When teaching AMU10 (grade nine music) I used a wide range of resources and styles of music to incorporate everyone in the learning process.

Vocal Music Teacher

Boc Tu Roc Academy of Music

I instructed singers on how to improve their singing technique, as well as care for their vocal chords while still developing their vocal skills.  Many of my students were at a preliminary to grade three level so it was nice being able to build up their techniques. I helped to prepare a few students for performance in a musical theatre production in Sault Ste. Marie. Students learned popular music with Classical techniques. I also worked on their breathing techniques and diction.  I also work as a freelance vocal teacher and do this when visiting my hometown.  I am extremely happy with the talent and dedication of my students. Working as a Freelance Vocal Teacher allows me to begin lesson planning specifically for the students I work with one on one. It also allows me to build their knowledge in theory, aural techniques, pitch, tone, rhythm, expression and musicianship. I look forward to continuing in this endeavour.
