Therapy using brain plasticity

Therapy involving techniques utilizing brain plasticity, the ability of the brain to modify its functioning and structure via interaction with the environment throughout life.  Special focus on working with cases of traumatic brain injury.

Supervision

Clinical supervision of therapy staffs in addictions and dual diagnosis treatment facilities.

Arts

Working with clients with mental illness and addictions to guide them in developing and marketing their art work. Creating my own drawings, paintings. Developing my interest in digital photography and image editing art.

Trainer

Presenting college courses and workshop trainings on issue of mental illness and addictions, based on my research reviews.  Topics covered include:  Neuropharmacology, craving, smoking cessation, women’s issues, confidentiality, understanding research, history of treatment services.  

Researcher

Internship in field research in anthropology; findings donated at the request of the University of Victoria, British Columbia, to their School of Environmental Studies.   Reviewing research on addiction and mental illness issues, to determine evidence-based practices in counseling.

Writing journal articles based on my literature reviews of papers in scientific journals about addiction and mental health.
