Marc Katz is the President and co-founder of CustomInk.com. In 1998, Marc earned a Physics degree from Harvard University, where he was active with student-run public service programs. He then worked as a financial analyst on Wall Street for a short time before finding another calling in the online retail business. In 2000, he and Harvard classmate Dave Christensen decided to launch CustomInk.com to enable people to design and order custom t-shirts online.
Marc inherited his entrepreneurial spirit from his father, who started and successfully operated three businesses in Philadelphia over a 25-year career. In the 6+ years since its founding, CustomInk has grown to a 120-person team, with dozens of subcontracted screen printers, delivering over 3 million custom printed T-shirts per year.
In 2005 and 2006, CustomInk was named to the Inc. Magazine "Inc 500" list of America's fastest-growing private companies and was also selected by Washingtonian Magazine as one of the "Great Places to Work" in the DC area.
Recently, Inc. Magazine also picked Marc as one of the "30 under 30: America's Coolest Young Entrepreneurs."
In 2006, in naming the company to its Inc 500, Inc cited its 666% growth in the prior 3 years to a total of $23.6 million in 2005. The company achieved this growth organically, without venture capital, and growth has continued this year.
