-- I generated story ideas, conducted interviews and wrote feature stories for SJSU Washington Square, San José State University's quarterly publication, sent to approximately 90,000 alumni and friends of the university worldwide.

-- As the sole writer for the Office of Public Affairs, I provided my expertise to the development staff in support of fundraising activities; specifically, in editing proposals, proofreading brochures, writing annual fund appeals, and composing or rewriting acknowledgment letters.

-- I collaborated extensively with the president's office and wrote speeches for, and letters on behalf of, the university president.

-- I proofread and copyedited most of the publications produced by our department and some that were developed by colleges and other departments.

-- I helped the 10-member public affairs team use online social media tools strategically and keep track of the online buzz about the university on various forums, blogs and Twitter.

-- I compiled and wrote the SJSU Writing Styleguide, a handy tool for faculty and staff to assist in their writing projects.

-- I was the contact person on campus for the U.S. News & World Report's survey of America's Best Colleges, and in that role collected and synthesized information from various departments across campus.

-- I also acted as a university liaison for the media, assisting the director of media relations in making pitches to print and television reporters and connecting them with experts on campus.

-- I served on various committees across campus, including the campus reading program committee, the faculty service recognition committee and the president-appointed internationalization committee.

-- In 2006, I designed and executed the first-ever readers' survey for SJSU Washington Square, the results of which prompted a redesign of the magazine.
