Magda Bandong dedicates a great amount of energy to helping people in her local and broader community lead meaningful, healthy lives. In fact, aside from her work as Director of Nursing and Administrator at Sigmah Home Health Services, Inc., in Houston, she helps others through giving. In a gesture of support to youth in her native country, Magda Bandong donates funds to help four students in the Philippines complete their higher educations. To date, she has provided these youths with money for tuition, books, and general expenses to encourage their efforts toward bettering themselves and their communities. Magda Bandong also regularly supports the American Red Cross’ Southeast Texas Region, as well as the Greater Houston Area Chapter; the United Way of Greater Houston; and the Houston Food Bank. She also participates as a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church. In her time away from work, Ms. Bandong enjoys reading, hiking, gardening, and travel. Before moving to the United States to begin a health care career, Magda Bandong earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation in the Philippines. A few years later, she began her career at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, where she worked as a Staff Nurse. Along with her work at The Methodist Hospital, Magda Bandong also served as a Charge Nurse and Staff Nurse at the Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she worked with shock trauma, cardiovascular, neurotrauma, burn, and transplant patients in intensive care units. Magda Bandong served in these positions until 2007, when she joined PDR Home Health Services as a Director of Nursing. In this new and expanded role, she assumed responsibilities related to the company’s overall vision, and enacted that vision through interaction with staff members and clients. In addition, Magda Bandong worked with a company administrator to meet objectives. After leaving PDR Home Health Services in 2009, Magda Bandong moved to Sigmah Home Health Services, where she presently works as an Administrator and Director of Nursing. Magda Bandong also holds a position as an Alternate Director of Nursing at HTH Holy Trinity Healthcare, Inc.
