Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: 100+ hours - I go in twice a week and help organize the information for all the upcoming marathons and help with all the paperwork. When marathons close to home take place, I go volunteer by directing runners and congratulating the finishers with medals.
Silver Award-I received my silver award in 2012. The silver award is the second highest award that can be obtained in Girl Scouts. For this project, I went to Noah's Homes which is a place for adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. I spent around 50 hours gathering flower pots, painting them, and planting them so I could place them around their campus. It was amazing to see the way their faces lit up when they saw the flower pots. Some even helped painted the flower pots with me which gave me time to socialize and get to know them individually.
Costa Rica Service Challenge- During the summer of 2014, I will be traveling to Costa Rica for two weeks to help the people living in villages. i will stay with them throughout the day, teaching the children English, painting around their community, and making it a better living environment in general. I'm excited to go help people who need it and leave a lasting impression on them.
Travel: My mom and I love traveling together. We are always looking forward to a new trip. Between the two of us, we are always going back and forth from the West to East Coast. i love being on the East Coast because of all the history it holds. I also enjoy being there during the winter because I love their weather.
Scuba Diving and Backpacking: During the summer of 2013, I got my scuba diving license so I could go out with my dad. it is something i instantly fell in love with because it is so peaceful being able to swim in the ocean under the water for long periods of time. I also enjoy backpacking. it is something I started doing about four years ago. i like being able to explore nature and disconnect from electronics for a few days.
