9th through 11th grade (I plan to continue volunteering at these organizations throughout the 12th grade)
Sevick School: 80+ hours
9th-11th grade- I work with special needs children ages 2-5 in the summer at this school. I volunteer as a teachers assistant, supervise the playground activities, and assist the on site physical therapist. This is one of my favorite activities because I get to work with kids as well as be educated in the occupational therapy field.
New Alternatives: 9 hours
8th-11th grade- A foster care home where I would interact with the children by doing seasonal crafts and games.
Sunshine Haven: 60 hours
7th-11th grade- Sunshine Haven would provide us with the ages and names of a family in need. We would sponsor this family by buying them Thanksgiving food baskets and Christmas gifts and clothing.
Horsemanship for the Handicapped: 20 hours
7th-9th grade- I work with special needs children, helping them ride horses. This helps the children to develop their core muscles, gives them confidence, and teaches them to respect animals. I enjoy volunteering at this organization because it involves both animals and kids.
Meals on Wheels: 12 hours
7th-11th grade- I would help deliver meals to elderly people in my community. They enjoyed the social interaction and our help around their kitchen.
Saint Vincent de Paul: 20 hours
7th-11th grade- I feed the homeless at their downtown San Diego homeless shelter.
Seany's Camp Reach for the Sky: 50+ hours
11th grade- A fun summer camp meant to give children with cancer a week of forgetting about their medical condition and to just be able to be a kid.
Vista Grande Elementary School: 50+ hours
10th-11 grade- I would volunteer in the computer lab as well as special needs/resource classes.
Elementary Sunday School at Journey Community Church: 5 hours
11th grade- I assist teaching Sunday School.
