An alumnus of Oregon-based George Fox University, where he graduated summa cum laude, Dr. David Shawa holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. David Shawa also attended the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center, earning his medical degree in 1982 before relocating to Louisiana. After completing his medical training at Ochsner Health Center near New Orleans, Dr. David Shawa practiced pain management and anesthesiology at a number of Louisiana clinics, including East Jefferson General Hospital, a facility established in 1975 to serve the people of Jefferson Parish’s East Bank. Here, Dr. David Shawa held the position of Chairman of the Anesthesia Department. Dr. David Shawa later traveled to Southern California, where he joined SHARP Treatment of South Bay in Torrance. Currently acting as SHARP’s Medical Director, Dr. David Shawa serves as a board-certified Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist, striving to provide relief from pain for patients throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. Dr. David Shawa diagnoses and treats disorders such as lordosis, fibromyalgia, arthritis, scoliosis, and osteoporosis. Dr. David Shawa remains an involved member of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Spine Intervention Society, and the American Academy of Pain Medicine. Furthermore, Dr. David Shawa assists Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance and the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, a private community institution founded in 1925.
