I am currently employed with Maries-Osage Ambulance District as a Paramedic. My duties included trauma related care and transport of the sick and injured.

From March of 2009 through September 2009 I was unemployed after failing to obtain National registry Certification as part of the agreement of hiring with the US Army. I worked side jobs such as carpentry, landscaping and other miscellaneous jobs to pay my bills.

Currently employed by The U.S. Army Department of Defense as a CLS Instructor (Combat Life Saver) and Paramedic. I instruct BCT soldiers in live saving techniques such as starting I.V.'s and Chest Needle Decompression, among others

Dixon Rural Fire Protection District

Volunteered as a firefighter and paramedic for my local fire department. Within in my first year I was promoted to Lieutenant at Station 2. Also fire suppression and vehicle rescue as well as care and treatment of the sick and injured were some of the duties I performed.

Paramedic/Training Officer/Assistant Administrator

Maries-Osage Ambulance District

Care treament and transport of the sick and injured, as well as other duties. I was promoted to Training Officer after 6 months of employment due to the departure of another employee. After 2 yrs. of service with the district I was promoted to Assistant Administrator after the current Assistant Administrator was promoted to Administrator, as part of my duties, training, scheduling, management, and quality assurance with patient care reports and protocol updates.

I worked for Abbott Ambulance for approximately 6 yrs. First as an E.M.T. for 4yrs. then the opportunity was available to become a Paramedic. While attending Paramedic School I worked full-time as an E.M.T. went to school 3 days a week at night as well as done my clinical time for school. My duties as an E.M.T. included care and transport of the sick and injured, Transfers of patients from hospital to home or other locations to and from. Also I was selected by management to train new employees. After completion of Paramedic School, my duties changed to more advanced patient care and training of new employees.

St. Clair Fire Protection District

I started in the fire service at the age of 14. My family had a tradition of firefighters in St. Clair for over 50 years. I spent 15 years with St.Clair fire and learned alot. From age 14 to 18 I was junior firefighter , basically it was firefighter traing, when I turned 18 I was moved up to regular firefighter with the department. During my service with the department I held three positions Public Information Officer, Emergency Numbering System Manager, as well as a member of the Training Committee.

Shift Manager

I worked as a shift manager for Pizza Hut, for 1 1/2 yrs. Part of my duties were to manage the store or stores. Managed day, evening, and night shifts. Counted money after store was closed made deposits when needed. Made weekly schedule corrections and changes as needed.

I worked for my hometown ambulance district for about 8 yrs. Part of my duties were care and transport of the sick and injured various public relation events.

Attended military instructor training through the MANSCEN center at Ft. Leonard Wood to receive certification and validation to teach military soldiers.

Attended a 6 week instructor class to achieve certification to train others interested in obtaining and E.M.T. or Paramedic certification.

Associates Degree in Occupational Sciences

When the opportunity came to attend Paramedic School, I chose to attend IHM partly because the company I worked for (Abbott Ambulance) paid full tuition and partly because I didn't feel as if I was able to take care of patients just having an E.M.T. license. Part of my education, included Pathophysiology, Anatomy, Microbiology, English Comp. 2 , Medical Math. , Pharmacology, Sociology, and several other classes. Out of 25 students that attended the program 20 finished, I wasn't expected to finish school by some of my peers but I finished 3rd in my class. I was also the only student in my class not to have to go to the Operating Room for intubation practice, the ionly one in my class to pass hands-on testing on the first try, and along with 4 other students I was selected to attend an advanced treatment class at Washington University taught by a Trauma Surgeon.
