Community Action Volunteers in Education
CAVE (Community Action Volunteers in Education) is currently the largest student-led organization on the CSU, Chico campus. With more than 90 staff members, CAVE manages 17 diverse volunteer programs serving children, senior citizens, the environment and special populations. As Director of the Kids Educational Programs, I directly supervise 29 staff members who implement seven different volunteer programs for approximately 600 volunteers per year by:
- Directly supervised 29 staff members who implement seven different volunteer programs for approximately 600 volunteers per year. The volunteer service meets the special needs of children ages 5-17, including those who are physically, emotionally and developmentally disabled.
- Served as a liaison between CAVE and the Chico Unified School District in managing more than 15 volunteer placement sites.
- Facilitated weekly program coordinator meetings to direct programs throughout the semester.
- Led monthly staff meetings and staff training retreats to prepare 90 CAVE staff members for volunteer recruitment, interviews, screening procedures, reference checks, feedback meetings, communication documentation, and volunteer grade administration.
