Yoga instructor and Fitness Consultant

Wellington City Council

Teach weekly yoga classes to a wide range of ages and abilities. Modify each class to an appropriate level for individual participants. Provide a safe, welcoming and restorative experience to help release stress and tension and address postural imbalances due to tight or weak muscles. Meet with new members for initial health assessments, program design and nutrition tip talk.

Develop and implement fitness plans to improve the level of health and fitness for a variety of clients. Work with corporate clients to establish fitness programs for employees. Work one on one with individuals and groups providing instruction, motivation and education. Help clients rediscover their athletic potential with holistic training.

Lifeguarded initially, promoted then to assistant manager and lastly the pool manager. Supervised, scheduled and trained a team of 15 lifeguards. Developed and managed an innovative "Learn to Swim" aquatics program instruction classes for infants and adults. Evaluated staff performance and conducted in-service training to maintain standards of performance. Overall responsibility for safety and well being of pool's patrons. Maintained ability to remain enthusiastic, calm and professional during all times.



Rotary International Youth Exchange Program
Applied for and was accepted into Rotary International's Youth Exchange Program. Lived with host families. Studied abroad in Argentina for one year after high school.
National Merit Scholar
Received the National Merit Scholar award Stemmed from high performance on the PSAT high school standardized test.
Competitive triathlete
Compete in triathlons from the Olympic to Half-ironman distance. Numerous top 10 and podium finishes.

Work Philosophy

I work hard and play hard. I am continually motivated to develop new skills and offer more in my field. I am inspired by my colleagues and clients and feel like I learn something new every day.


  • Finish my undergraduate degree in Food and Nutrition.
  • Volunteer in the nutrition field to gain community service experience.
  • Learn French and become successful here in Wellington with my group training classes.
  • Apply for and be accepted to a meaningful dietetic internship and pass the exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
  • Long term goal is to work with athletes as a Specialist in Sports Dietetics.


Lucy Roberts is working towards her BS in Food and Nutrition from the University of Alabama. She is passionate about nutrition and fitness and interested in the interaction between the food we eat and our physical fitness and how that relates to overall wellness.

She studied Kinesiology at California State University Sacramento which prompted her to acquire a personal training certification and work with clients.

A lifelong athlete, she has become certified in yoga and Zumba along the way and leads both groups and individual clients.
