I have was tasked to design & implement a strategic business expansion plan for EnerMech East Africa to bring EnerMech Operations into these new areas in Africa. I have also been tasked as Country & BD Manager for EnerMech (www.enermech.com) in East Africa which is limited to Mozambique, Madagascar, Tanzania & Kenya. During December 2014 I was promoted to COO of Wiseglobal Facility Management which was a new company setup in the middle east (Dubai) to deal with the international procurement constraints we were facing in parts of East Africa.  With my exposure to technical Facilities Management projects involved in South Africa between 2004 - 2010 I used this opportunity to diversity this company and build a business that could self sustain itself if there was a dip in the international market for the products which we were supplying & supporting.  

Emerson Process Management Division & Emerson Network Power was the main brand of products we were supplying to key clients.  

During May 2015 the Local Business Partnership agreement with Wisedesign Madagascar was not renewed.  

Shortly after that I resigned from WGI as Chief Operating Officer.

  • Strategic Development of all Information Management Systems throughout the group of companies which included Madagascar, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Ghana and Mozambique.
    • Migrated the entire group of approximately 400 Staff Members from Microsoft to Google Enterprise and moved the entire group from local server based operations to Cloud Based Operations Globally.
  • Working closely with CEO William Barwise to learn the industry of Minerals & Mining and assist with restructuring of the group legal entities and establish internal systems throughout the companies based on ISO standards.
  • Re-designed the entire Business Model for Wisedesignafrica with Sakkie van Greunen to move from SME to Corporate Company.

  • Strategic Input & Business Development for NPO (Global Missions 4 Africa) based in Madagascar since 2010 to present.  This NPO is a community based organisation which looks at assisting the local people of Madagascar more effectively as poverty is very high...

WISEGLOBAL & WISEGLOBAL RESOURCE FUND

Wiseglobal & WGRF was birthed during Q2 of  2014, the name and Corporate Identity was developed by Lucas Visser.  These vehicles were conceptualised and birthed to become the international EPCM & Finance Development arm.  Specific new partnerships was brought on line with the development thereof.

A strong focus was put on International Project Finance Development.

I also served on this board of International Directors to build Middle East Africa Regions.  Key Milestones was:  

  • The development of the Project Development Process as a system.  Financial Modelling was done by our Finance Director Henry Land.
  • A New Project Development Intelligence System Concept was also birthed by Lucas Visser to visualise information and relationships to provide a more solid platform of information management protection in the field of Project Development Globally.  This was done specifically to protect information and to find the information that was "real".

The business development of Middle East was very important and regions such Iran and Iraq was investigated for the development of Oil Resources found in these countries.  Currently the trade embargo on these countries prohibit us from trading with them.

I have done numerous due diligence exercises on small to medium company acquisitions which WISE was involved with.  The largest thereof was a thirteen million Euro's Acquisition which did not take place.  My role in all of these due diligences were restricted only to internal systems.

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • Cape Town Tourism (City of Cape Town) complete re-design of the entire Information Management Systems environment.  This was done in conjunction of the 2010 world cup soccer event campaign. (2003 - 2010),
  • Harley Davidson Custom Truck AV Design, Develop, Install & Commissioning (2009)
  • V&A Waterfront, completed various small install projects such as the design of the Wi-Fi network currently in use throughout the V&A and a complete audit on the entire Fibre Optic network. (2009)
  • Val de Vie Estate, complete FIBRE OPTIC NETWORKS, CCTV, AUDIO & CONTROL SYSTEMS design, install & commission. (2006 - 2008)
  • Constantia Mall was also completely revamped in the same manner as Cavendish Square two years later. (2006)
  • Cavendish Square (Drake & Skull), complete re-design of the Audio & CCTV systems including the first ever Audio & CCTV remote controlled shopping mall.  The client was able to adjust volume's, change channels and adjust volumes in specific zones remotely without being on site. This was developed in accordance with the clients needs. (2004)

MILESTONES

  • Re-modelled & re-purposed the use of the BSS & CROWN Audio Processor as a distribution and control processor during 2004 on the Cavendish Project.  Stephen Hoy assisted me on this project and was a team effort.
  • Implemented the use of a fully duplex Fibre Optic Network Multicore System with video protocols  converting from Analog to Digital through the processing units and distributing the video signals.
  • Installed over 27km of Single and Multicore Optic Fibre at Val De Vie
  • Designed the acoustical layout at Val de Vie sports field in doors and out doors. Designed by Lucas Visser
  • Installed the first ever Free Wi-Fi Network in a shopping mall in South Africa. This was done in conjunction with another technical team.
  • Designed and built the first ever Harley Davidson Promotions Truck which transformed into a stage within 10 minutes.  This truck had a complete hydraulics system and internal control processors to control all other events and promotions functions without human interface.   • Val de Vie home wins prestigious world designers award for best design, the entire control and lighting systems was designed by Lucas Visser.
  • Introduced Smart Village Concept into the market place around 2008 and ever since has done many consulting projects in conjunction with other service providers.
  • Power meter box development to enable Municipalities to have more control over Power Networks.
  • First ever Voice over IP system that could be used over ADSL lines which did NOT have a static IP environment.  We use CISCO protocol technology to build VPN lines over these DHCP ADSL routers.  The breakthrough was the scripting done on the VPN trunks to enable to re-establish connection hand-shake each time the IP changed.  This platform enabled Cape Town Tourism to save 20% on all their outgoing costs. The project was a co-venture between Lucia Consulting (my company and Dimention Data) This was not possible at the time (2007).
  • Cape Town Tourism's Business Model was seen as one of the most efficient tourism platforms developed by CEO Mariette du Toit and her team at the time that the UNITED NATIONS endorsed this tourism model as a sustainable model as a Non Profitable Establishment.   The milestone for us was to design and build a tourism IT Platform that was extremely cost effective and could meet the strict operational and international requirements outlined.

Designed, built & supported large LED Display screens for the events, commercial & advertising industry based out of Cape Town.  This company also included an events team that did most of the events that took place in the V&A Waterfront from 2002 - 2012. SMARTLED also worked very closely with MARULA-LED in conjunction with Patrick Brady to assist in development of the Cool Tube & other LED product development.  

SPECIAL PROJECTS

  • V&A Waterfront Busker Program Development.  Aletia Visser (my wife) and I developed a street entertainers program and association in the V&A Waterfront from 2002.  This project was designed to help the community in the greater Cape Town by giving them a platform at the V&A Waterfront to come and showcase their create skills.  We invited Street Entertainers not just from SA but from all over the World as the V&A Waterfront was an international destination.
  • Audio Stylist (Designer) for the International Day of Prayer hosted in Newlands Rugby Stadium from 2002 to 2005.  Live audio design for 50 000 people & broadcast feed setup to broadcast to 52 countries world wide. Was privileged to work side by side Graham Power (CEO of Power Construction) on this project from 2003 to 2005.
  • 2010 World Cup Soccer, we hosted four fan zones in Cape Town and Jozi.
  • The design and install of two giant LED screens at Melrose Arch Johannesburg. These giant screens were again the first screens in the country to be remotely managed from anywhere in the world.  Functions such as remote reboot, custom configuration, live TV broadcasting, Live Events Broadcasting and Event Content was all remotely handled.  All screen advertising was sold and managed by us.
  • Design and install of three LED Screens at the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre.
  • Tygervalley Shopping Mall was completely re-vamped.  Over two thousand light Cool Tube LED Light Fixtures was installed, the client saved over 60% of electricity per month from their traditional bill before this product was introduced.  The product grew very strong in a short space of time. 2011 - 2012

WISEFORCE

Wiseforce is a system development which was conceptualised by Lucas VIsser for Wisedesignafrica to manage new, existing and old Contractors working on Projects.  The client was working off old Excel based sheets to look for recruits needed for their projects. The client was also struggling to take the information which was emailed from the recruits and inserting it onto the excel sheet.  They needed an automated system with intelligence to help them find recruits faster.  There is multiple functions developed for Wiseforce but one of the outstanding points was the fact that the process was automated and the recruits could interact online and update their details. I see more potential with having this system working side by side in a contracts company which makes use of recruits all the time.  I am able to implement the same solution for any other client depending on their needs requirement.

INTELLIBASE

This system was birthed out of frustration of working very closely on a plant and not having enough insight into the service & process history for specific products such as Valves installed on a plant.  This product took me about a year to develop and sadly was not installed as I resigned from Wiseglobal before it was used, I am continuing the development on this product as I feel that this can be a game changer in the area of Asset Management on plants.

MSA AGREEMENTS

Master Supply Agreements has been around for very long but in the most recent worldwide economic slump in the oil and gas, minerals & mining these agreement are very useful.  The problem with MSA's is that there is a Financial model to this concept which has room for improvement.  I have developed a financial model with another new BU that has the potential to generate much more funds. 

DATA VISUALISATION

One of thee most exciting developments for me personally is the development of Data Visualisation which is a concept which originated from military actually.  In the mid seventies to early eighties world wide organised crime & government corruption became very big worldwide problem.  Various security agencies such as CIA, NIS etc uses this technology to track terrorist or organised crime cells.  

In the early 2000's the Social Media Networks started using this technology and designed Algorithms used in popular Social Media systems such as Facebook to build profiles information about individuals.  This information is then Visualised to build other types of data sets for specific use, mainly to make money... 

Now in the oil and gas, mining and minerals this concept is still unheard off and building data visualisation in this industry will be another huge game changer.  For me the research is great and exciting but the actual development can only be done with a corporate company with an international footprint.  The development of a system like this will take approximately two years and has the potential to exponentially increase profit margins.

OSI SOFT (PI SYSTEM)

While I was working for Wisedesignafrica I was tasked to look at other industries to expand on the BU model already in place.  I started engaging with a company called OSI Soft which is very well know for the PI System used in the Oil & Gas Industry.  I spend a few weeks engaging with top management in OSI on new Business Models and even took part in a Tender for Kazakstan worth over three million dollars.  I presented this model to our board and it was declined mainly because Wisedesignafrica was not in the oil and gas industry.  It had room for development in the Minerals & Mining field but needed too much startup funding.

PIPE JOINING TECHNOLOGY

Also part of my journey at Wiseglobal I was introduced to an amazing company which develops Pipe Joining Technology for the Oil & Gas & Minerals Markets.  I am able to negotiate close partnerships to help increase sales and the possible development of a new BU.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS

FLYING

I enjoy flying and have spent at least 15 hours on the Cessna C208 & 152 during my time in Madagascar, I do not have my PPL but hope to get this soon.

DRONE DEVELOPMENT

I have only been involved with Drone Technology for four years now but the bug has bitten me, the development of the control systems and visual systems used in Drones is very exciting.  Flying drones is disciplined and needs constant practice, I enjoy the structure the sport adds to my life.

QUANTUM PHYSICS

We all know that QP is a fundamental branch of Physics which deals with physical phenomena...  Learning about those concepts is something that will keep us busy for hundreds of years if not eternity.  Reading and listening helps me to understand more about the world we live in created in absolute perfection.

SPORTS

KITE SURFING

I have been Kite Surfing for many years now and come love it!! I always try to take my equipment with me if I am going to some sort of an Island or place that has good wind.  Sailing is in my nature..

DIVING

Both me and my wife love diving, both of us has Open Water 2 Certification and when we can get wet between life's daily activities we try to do it.  I enjoy studying the underwater creatures such as Hard & Soft Corals.

DEEP SEA FISHING

I have my Dad to thank for this, he has been taking me to see since I was fourteen years old.  Today I am an absolute enthusiast for deep sea fishing.

CROSS COUNTRY ENDURANCE BIKE RIDING

While I was in the SADF i was trained in Motorbike Riding Skills and since then I have always enjoyed cross country trips through the bush and complex riding conditions.
