Current Projects:

Resource Act Modernization Project (RAMP), is a $1.2 million dollar, multi phase

project for the Housing Authority of Clackamas County. The project includes capital

improvements, energy upgrades and weatherization of 346 individual rental units

throughout the county. Responsibilities included writing specifications and scope of

work, interviewing and selecting contractors, creating work schedules, supervising

and inspecting completed work, authorization of payments and budget oversight, as well as

compliance interviews with the workforce.

Columbia Cascade Housing Corporation - I provided construction and inspection services to this non profit developer in the acquisition and projected renovation of 2 existing multi family housing projects in Hood River. Duties included physical inspection of the projects with identification of defects and energy shortfalls, selection of both a contractor and architect, creation of a scope of work with an emphasis on envelope replacement, energy upgrades and indoor air quality.  I also worked to prepare  an application for funding from the current 2010 CFC from Oregon Housing and Community Services, which was suscessfulyy awarded in 2011.

To formalize my activities in various types of construction and home inspection, I completed the training and tests necessary to be a licensed home inspector in the State of Indiana, License # HI00500398.Subsequent to moving to Florida, through training and ongoing testing from the University of Florida, I achieved certification as a Wind Mitigation Surveyor #20210. Services offered under these certifications include:

  • real estate sale inspections
  • construction progress inspections for bank draws
  • various insurance inspections including, roof certifications, 4 point inspections, commercial and restaurant liability inspections.
  • wind mitigation inspections for structural integrity in high wind areas
  • scope of work inspections for repossessed homes in South Florida
  • single or multiple component checks, including inspection of HVAC and other energy related components. 
  • inspection services for attorneys including expert witness.

Currently I am an Oregon Certified Home Inspector, #1427.


Contractor - Developer

This Family owned business started out building single family, scattered site and small subdivisions homes in Southern New Jersey.Our business included the following:

  • developing homesites in the environmentally sensitive Pinelands District
  • purchase and permitting properties through multiple state and local agencies
  • supervising site work, including streets and utility placement
  • sales and promotion of home packages
  • design, and construction of custom homes
  • supervision of subcontractors, materials, and customer liason

My specialty was energy efficient construction techniques, and I was a pioneer in passive solar and earth sheltered homes in New Jersey.

LSI Homes moved to the State of Indiana, and in addition to building over 100 homes and light commercial structures, Ispecialized in systems built homes through All American Homes.The increased efficiency of this type of constructionallowed our business to build through severe winters, and utilized large cranes and pre built modules to decrease construction times with resultant efficiencies in costs for both the contractor and consumer.

Non-profit Community Development

I was associated with Rural Opportunities, Inc., a multi state non profit provider of housing and other services to various disadvantaged populations.The organization, which is based in Rochester N.Y., is now known as Pathstone.My duties and accomplishments are as follows:

  • responsible for construction oversight and rent up of 24 unit rental housingproject for farm workers
  • conceptualization and implementation of a 16 unit homeownership project for income eligible families, including layered financing, bidding, construction management, homeowner counseling and mortgage approvals.
  • recipient of many state, local and federal grants
  • technical assistance provider and consultant for housing projects throughout Rural Opportunities service area in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York
  • provided bid packages, construction supervision and project management for several day care centers in New Jersey and Indiana
  • technical assistance provider through the HOME program for CHDO’s in several states.
  • responsible for the construction of 4 homes for Habitat for Humanity in Indiana

Providing shelter for those in need has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life, and proves to me that that creative, dedicated people can make an enormous impact on the lives of many of our most needy citizens.

I have over 25 years experience in all aspects of residential and light commercial construction.As a second generation building contractor, my career in this industry includes development and construction,nonprofit community development, various types of inspection and consultation, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and green technologies.I strive to constantly increase my knowledge in this field with professional continuing education in energy efficiency and advanced construction techniques, as well as business management and code issues. Construction, modernization and green technologies are a fascinating and rapidly evolving environment.   I continue to employ a "hands -on" approach to this work, and consider my ability to communicate effectively to be my greatest strength.
