  • Education ERP company: Hired by venture capital firm as Chairman of the Board to redirect $16M portfolio company and reverse 2 years of declining profits and missed revenue targets. Reinvented strategic direction, built talented management team, and raised sorely needed capital to get the business back on track.
  • Higher education software business: Rescued firm on the verge of bankruptcy. Raised $4M to restart business, hire new staff, and initiate an aggressive go-to-market strategy. Generated second-round capital of $6M
  • Higher Education E-Learning business: Developed business strategy for corporate expansion throughout China leveraging local office base of operations. Provided strategic direction and connections to China based private equity.
  • Korean based English Language Learning Business: Worked with corporate office in structuring U.S. based subsidiary for entry into the K-12 markets and Gen Y recruiting business.
  • Business Intelligence Solutions company: CEO mentoring and business strategy development for growth and expansion into Higher Education, Healthcare and Human Capital Management Markets. Created financing plan and ongoing consulting for Series A capital raise

Built start-up business into a world-class global online education organization with $60M in revenue/bookings

Recruited by VC investors, gained fiduciary relationship with founders to maintain support. Heavily involved in defining the brand and in initial round of selling and closing accounts before scaling up sales organization. Devised strategy and directed all operations; full P&L accountability.

  • Raised $51M including initial private equity and follow-on investments to establish market category ownership and support double-digit cost structure growth while establishing triple-digit top-line revenue growth.
  • Opened up global markets in conjunction with strategic partnerships with F100 infrastructure businesses building visibility and initial sales.
  • Grew annual revenue 600% to $18M in just 20 months; by end of second year, revenues/forward bookings reached $50M in 2001.
