Loren Caira


An accomplished physician currently practicing in Burns Lake, British Columbia, Dr. Loren Caira holds nearly three decades of experience in the medical profession. Dr. Caira was licensed by the Medical Council of Canada in 1983 and named a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine in November 1987. In 1990, he became a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Early in his career, he served as Director of Emergency Services at Greater El Monte Community Hospital in El Monte, California, and Tustin Hospital Medical Center in Tustin, California. Dr. Loren Caira also gained early experience in a busy trauma center as a Locum Tenens at Louis Hospital on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In 1995, Dr. Loren Caira joined West Hills Medical Center in West Hills, California, as an Active Staff Emergency Room Physician. Dr. Caira more recently transitioned into the area of family care. In November 2011, he accepted his current position of Family Physician at Lakes District Hospital in Burns Lake, British Columbia. Dr. Loren Caira holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of British Columbia. While completing his medical degree, he received the Lipsey Toohill Scholarship in recognition of his academic achievements. The postdoctoral work of Dr. Caira included a medical residency, a rotating internship at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, British Columbia, and clinical clerkships at King Edward the 8th Hospital and G.J. Crookes Hospital in South Africa. An active member of the medical community in Canada, Dr. Loren Caira is currently credentialed as part of the College of Family Physicians of British Columbia. He also holds professional memberships in the British Columbia Medical Association and the Canadian Medical Association.
