An active member of her Philadelphia, Pennsylvania community, Lois Bruckno remains committed to numerous nonprofit groups. Lois Bruckno regularly organizes charitable events such as Jump Rope For Heart and Hoops For Heart, which benefit the American Heart Association. An activist as well as an organizer, Lois Bruckno participates in community events of all sizes. Most recently, Lois Bruckno assisted seniors at the Stiffel Center in planting trees at the Museum of Natural History. Lois Bruckno also regularly participates in walk-a-thons and supports environmental groups like Save the Earth. In addition to her volunteer efforts, Lois Bruckno encourages healthy interaction between adolescents through her involvement with community outreach, peer mediation, and conflict resolution programs. As an activist who focuses on preventing bullying, Lois Bruckno serves as a co-coordinator with the Citizens in Action Society and as a Bully Prevention Facilitator through programs sponsored by Physicians for Social Responsibility. In 1993, Lois Bruckno received recognition as a semi-finalist for the Celebration of Excellence Award. Lois Bruckno received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Temple University. Lois Bruckno also attained a Master of Science in Health Education from Arcadia University.
