As I said earlier, the purpose of creating this profile for myself was to not only share the types of activities I enjoy, information on myself but also to share the work i have done as well as the goals I hope to achieve.
Hello and welcome to my portfolio website! My name is Rachel Gendron, I am a fifth year student at California State University, Chico. My time in Chico has been spent majoring in Journalism with an option in Public Relations while receiving a minor in Multi Cultural Gender Studies. While attending school I was a member of the women's softball team my freshman year and went onto becoming a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. As a collegian member I served my sorority not only as Activities Coordinator but as Vice President of Operations as well. Once my time as a collegian member was over I went onto becoming an advisor to the Activities Coordinator and President of the Junior Circle group for Alumni women who have graduated but wish to continue their time as productive members. I enjoy being near any large body of water, particularly the beach. I have created this website to not only showcase the work I have done so far but to also give anyone reading it an idea of the kind of person I am and activities I enjoy. Thank you and happy reading!

CSU, Chico, College of Agriculture
While working with the College of Agriculture I became familiar with office procedures and appropriate office etiquette. I performed duties around the office to ensure it ran as smoothly as possible while attending to important paper work and needs of not only students but the faculty and staff as well. I worked with Microsoft Word, Excel and Publisher closely, which I was able to pick up quickly.

Public Relations Intern
Throughout my time with the Office of Diversity I was responsible for researching various upcoming events then writing fact sheets, press releases and articles. One of my many duties was to create an E-newsletter through the website Constant Contact and making sure two newsletters went out each month on time. I also researched the various events happening in the City of Chico as well as countrywide and updated those dates in the newsletter as well. I also helped with the social media by updating the Facebook and Twitter pages on a regular basis. I attended different events within the campus community to input information into the newsletter that way as well. I met with my supervisor weekly to communicate with him the weekly tasks I had planned and to touch base on things he would like to see be done.

Public Relations/Marketing Intern
During my time with the Chico Air Show I wrote a story for the local magazine, Growing Up Chico to highlight the "Kid's Zone" at the Air Show. I also wrote various press releases for the show and put together media kits that I sent out to the various local news outlets. The media kits included nine press releases, a CD of all those press release along with a CD of pictures I compiled of each act. I served as a media contact for all of our military and civilian performances at the show, working with them to varify any details that would be helpful in setting up ride alongs and interviews with the media covering the weekend. Not only did I work closely with our incoming acts I also helped with the social media via Faebook as well as the Chico Air Show website. At the show I worked with the media to let them know which performers would be available and I was also responsible for contacting those performers and getting them to their interview on time. After the show i spent time filing away important items detailing what was done throughout the process as well as sending thank you's to all media for their coverage of our event.

Public Relations/Marketing Intern
The Athletic Department at Chico State has been trying to increase the attendance of it's students for years now. Part of my job as an intern was to help increase attendance and promote game days for all sporting events from men's and women's basketball, volleyball to baseball. I worked in the Bell Memorial Union (BMU) to give out information on the games and who our teams would be playing and encourage students to participate. At the games we gave away incentive prizes for a certain amount of students that came to the game first. I also worked on the Facebook page to update game schedules and standings as well as notifying winners of the monthly prizes we have away as a reward for their involvement in the Athletic Department games.
