Work Philosophy

In life to achieve something great you need Passion, to fulfill vision, a great leader’s courage comes from passion, and I have found my passion in nutrition. I put immense effort into everything because that is what truly makes me happy.  Working in a timely manner, being very intuitive, and individual commitment to a group effort are also very important to my work strategies.  I feel that without these qualities creating a sufficient work environment would be greatly hindered

Professional Goals 2 years

I have several goals that I am determined to reach. I want to effectively complete the Dietetic Internship and also continue my education further by earning a Master’s of Science degree in Food and Nutrition. Achieving the Registered Dietitian credential is also an objective that is particularly important to me.I would love to work in a clinical setting (acute care) for a few years to gain experience.

Professional Goals 5 years

After a few years working in acute care which is a clinical setting, I definitely have goals and ambitions to broaden my horizons.Through A.S.P.E.N. I would love to become a Certified Nutrition Support Coordinator (CNSC), this stems from my love of total parenteral nutrition (TPN).I would then like to explore the industry side of dietetics; my dream would be to work for Nestle Nutrition Company exploring new ways to enhance people’s lives.Nestle is a company that shares many of the same values and inspirations that I have working for them would be an honor.

Katlyn has also worked at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) this past summer as a dietary aide.Katlyn was successfully able to take what she learned in the classroom and apply it hands on in two different units in the hospital, oncology and dialysis. Katlyn has learned a lot from her dietary aide job. She believes that the time she spent gaining knowledge in the hospital has prepared her for future opportunities.Over four years spent in the classroom and many extra-curricular activities Katlyn can honestly say she has learned a lot and looks forward to continue learning after her undergraduate degree throughout this vast changing field. After graduation, Katlyn is eager and hoping to complete a dietetic internship. She would also like to obtain a Masters degree in Advanced Food and Nutrition.
