Work experience

Everyone Active

Worked as a recreation attendant (lifeguard) for two years developing teamwork and customer service skills. I routinely spoke to customers, sold memberships and kept up the high standard in the centre. Working as a team was extremely important in this job as you needed to keep on time and share around jobs in order to maintain a positive environment. I worked here from the ages of 16 to 18 and therefore from a young age gained experience and committed to a working environment.

Royds Raphael

I worked at this company part time for 3 years whilst in university and thoroughly enjoyed it. As the company was a media/marketing based company, I gained experience of how the media industry works. I found it extremely interesting and it developed my ability to work efficiently and gain knowledge of how media companies work.

Gap Year in Africa

I chose to take out a gap year in South Africa to develop myself as a person. I volunteered in the schools and hostels as well as hiking around the country. I believe this was the right decision as it helped develop me as a person so that I was ready to work the next year. I made some amazing memories and helped change peoples lives; something that I will remember forever. I believe that if had not done this I would not have done as well at university as I don't think as a person I was ready.

Springer Nature

Associate Media Editor

I am currently working among nobel prize winners whilst editing media clips, using final cut pro, photoshop as well as developing my passion for media and the creativity within the job. I have worked here for approximately a year and I am constantly using my initiative, being creative and meeting deadlines as well as developing myself as a person whilst doing this job. In this job I get to gain experience on site and off site as many of the projects require me to travel which means I have gained a lot of experience. I aspire to work my way up the company and continue challenging myself.

BTEC Level 3 Creative Media Production

Achieved a BTEC qualification with DDD* which is equivalent to 3 A-Levels. This course was extremely beneficial and allowed the transition to university to study media and communications easier as I already had sufficient knowledge. Some examples of my work can be found here - and here I produced the music video and video instillation in my first year. I played the role of director in music video as well as acting as a camera woman.
