Studied abroad in South Africa for a semester. Lived in the residence halls on campus, participated in university clubs and traveled southern Africa for a six month period.
I am a junior at Michigan State University and will graduate in May of 2012. I am an honors college student studying Hospitality Business and specializing in Entreprenuership as well as Environmental Economics.
Last semester I studied abroad in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa for a semester (January 2010 - June 2010). I lived in the residence halls with the local students, took a full load of credits at the University of Kwazulu-Natal as an international student, and participated in university clubs. I took every opportunity I had to travel, experiencing a large part of southern Africa. I have fallen in love with traveling and would like to continue my travels to other parts of the world.
I am very involved in MSU clubs and organizations. This year I am the Vice President of Human Relations for the Hospitality Association as well as the Director of Marketing for Vegas Night which is one of The School's four main events it hosts every year. I am also the Vice President of the Spartan Civitan Club which is a community service club dedicated to helping the lives of physically and mentally disabled members of the Lansing community.
Apart from school related clubs, I have grown up around horses and now play on the MSU's JV Polo Team. I also love to play tennis and visit my family, snowboard, and shop in the city when I'm home in Portland, Oregon.
To obtain a position within the hospitality industry to be used as a level-2 internship for The School of Hospitality Business at Michigan State University for the 2011 summer months. Though open to opportunities in any large cities within the United States, my ultimate goal would be to find an internship abroad, preferably in Asia or South America.
