Ontario Alcohol Beverage Service Training

To acquire an full-time position at a Book Publishing company.  I am also open to any freelance work for copyediting and/or writing.

I am a recent graduate of Centennial College's post-graduate program, Book and Magazine Publishing.  I am currently interning at Harlequin Enterprises in their Public Relations department.  I am interested in acquiring a full-time position in the areas of marketing and public relations. In school, I study editing (copy- and substantive-editing), contracts, permissions and copyright law, design, book manufacturing, writing for publication, book/magazine marketing and sales, and book/magazine editing.  Thus far in my studies I have received top grades, which I attribute to my excellent work ethic acquired at the University of Toronto.

I addition to my internship, I work at Coles bookstore, which provides me with the opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge of the current book market and supplies me with knowledge of customer needs.  I am also being trained to receive and return store merchandise, in addition to my roles of shelving, creating displays, helping customers, and working at the cash register.  The Indigo Company also gives me the opportunity to participate in events.  This past summer I attended H.B. Fenn's fall preview, allowing me to interact with authors and representatives from the company.  I am also involved with the Indigo Love of Reading Fund, for which I recently organized a bake sale to raise funds for underprivileged schools.

At Harlequin I take full advantage of every opportunity presented to me. Throughout my internship I manage our involvement with NetGalley, an online e-galley distribution service. I also help arrange events, liaise with our many customers/bloggers, work with bookstores for author signings, and research new digital initiatives.
