Have provided training on Microsoft Office suite of software to staff, have authored feature articles on PR and branding for the FORUM, the official publication of the Association Forum of Chicagoland, and have been a speaker on the topic of PR and branding for that organization as well as at national trade shows. Have also served in the press room of several major national sporting events, assisting media and accommodating interview requests. In regards to social media, I have my own twitter handle, Chicago_PR_Pro, with more than 1,370 followers and also regularly update and use Facebook and LinkedIn for my clients and for personal and networking use.
Managed the corporate communications for the parent company, KemperSports, in all aspects of media relations, account management, social media, crisis communications, spokesperson training, key message development and publications. Served as Media Relations Director for the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational basketball tournament. Also oversaw agency client accounts in the sports and tourism sectors.
Managed corporate and B2B marketing communications accounts for clients that included Denver’s oldest law firm, ITW in Chicago, Lakeshore Athletic Club and various other clients including a new product/service launch for a startup company. Also charged with new business development for the agency.
Headed up the association practice out of the Chicago office, overseeing the agency’s professional and trade association accounts, including the American Society of Home Inspectors, National Roofing Contractors Association, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, Association Forum of Chicagoland and others.
Managed the nonprofit association accounts, including the American Society of Golf Course Architects, All-American Rose Selections and others. For the ASGCA, the agency acted as the association’s management firm, responsible for day-to-day operations for its members, including PR, marketing, advertising and member communications. Publicis merged with MS&L, transitioning to the above position.
Implemented and developed marketing plans and programs for this Steelcase office furniture dealer. This was a long-term temporary position developed upon my transfer to Chicago that was created to support the company in the design of new marketing materials and in producing and promoting events.
Served as the marketing liaison between the headquarters office and external clients, including developers, contractors and architects. Supported national sales staff, created and distributed marketing materials and coordinated events and promotions for this high-end commercial architectural woodworking firm.
Served under the director of media relations for the national governing body for the sport of Olympic-style boxing at the USOC headquarters in Colorado Springs. Supported media relations efforts, assisted in producing the bi-monthly publication and provided on-site press room support at major events, including the Olympic Trials and Box-Offs.
