Speech-Language Pathologist/Early Childhood Assessment       Beaumont, CA

-Selected and administered an appropriate battery of speech, language, and fluency assessments to socially, ethically, and racially diverse populations from preschool to elementary school-aged children. 

-Interpreted assessment data to document legally defensible and family-friendly Speech-Language assessments, while maintaining compliance with state and federal mandates. 

-Worked to write and implement IEP goals to provide treatment for a variety of disorders and syndromes.  These include, but are not limited to Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dandy-Walker Syndrome, Apert Syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, Amniotic Band Syndrome, Down Syndrome, seizure disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc. 

-Initiated collaboration and scheduling of multidisciplinary assessments with a variety of specialists  (OT, PT, Assistive Technology, Vision Itinerant, Audiologist, Deaf/Hard of Hearing Itinerant, General Education Teacher, Special Education Teacher) within district and from outside agencies to plan and coordinate information prior to and during IEP meeting.

-Built district-wide relationships to organize collaborative meetings with elementary school staff and families in order to to support transitioning special education preschool students to kindergarten.

-Asked by local university to supervise and coach graduate school students and Clinical Fellows as a way to encourage and mentor future Speech-Language Pathologists.  Specifically focused on building staff relationships, gathering and administering appropriate assessments, and writing defensible evaluations at the preschool level. 

-Embraced and utilized technology as a means to support communication, enrich therapy activities, prepare IEP documents, monitor therapy data, and write reports to maintain organization for evolving and growing caseload responsibilities. 

-Orchestrate parent classroom visits to provide a fuller understanding of district's continuum of special education program options. 

-Worked with local librarian to provide parent support and outreach during free community classes for preschoolers. Provided ongoing support for over 10 public and private preschools to maintain district's responsibility for Child Find and support target population. 

-Attended tri-annual preschool consortium meetings with preschool evaluation teams in local area to plan and share best practices, evaluation materials , and to stay current on changing laws and developments in field. 

-Successfully participated in mediation efforts to resolve high profile case prior to due process.

-Provided speech and language therapy and social skills development for children ranging in ages from 2-years to 11-years-old.

-Co-planned and treated with Occupational Therapists and Developmental Interventionists to facilitate language development through emotions, social interactions, and multi-sensory cueing. 

-Taught engagement techniques between parent and child through play-based therapy in order to promote speech and language skills in educational and home-based environments.
