Camp Jorn YMCA

I was a day camp co counselor for a group of 30 kids ranging in ages from 8-12 years old. The day camp ran from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. During our time together, we did various activities including: field games, canoeing, arts and crafts, swimming, archery, and air rifles. Volunteer Experience

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters- Every Wednesday afternoon, I go to Cloverdale Elementary school and spend time with my little sister, Maria, who is in third grade. We work on homework, play games, read books, and do arts and crafts projects
  • Tots Time- Every Tuesday morning, I go to Gobin Methodist Church, and volunteer at their local day care.
  • Child Life Services Volunteer- I volunteered at Lutheran Hospital in the pediatrics wing my sophomore, junior, and senior year of high school. As a volunteer, my responsibilities included checking on every patient, cleaning the playroom, and organizing activities for patients to participate in. I will be volunteering again on the Pediatrics floor this winter during my January term and I will also be shadowing Tammy Else, the Lutheran Hospital Child Life Specialist.

Skills

Skills

Camtasia

I used Camtasia to create instructional videos for Google Applications including Google calendar, gmail, and drive.

SPSS

I am very familiar with the SPSS program. I know how to enter data and run a variety of analyses including chi squares, correlations, ANOVAs, regressions, and other statistical tests.

Microsoft Office

I am very familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and have been using these programs since elementary school.

Interpersonal Skills

I am able to work with all types of personalities and enjoy working in a group setting. This skill was strengthened during my ITAP experience and my job as a day camp counselor where I worked cohesively with three other counselors on a daily basis.

Communication

I'm very comfortable with both my written and oral communication skills. I'm continually developing and improving these skills. I have given student workshops on google applications, Facebook profile employability, and Google Drive. I have also co-lead two professional development sessions.

Google Apps

As an associate, I have been focusing on Google Applications and how they can help students both academically and socially. I created step by step video tutorials on tools helpful to students in Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Gmail. I have also given workshops on these applications.
