As the Business Office Manager at Medtech's Greenwood campus, I was responsible for posting financial aid to students' accounts.  I processed withdrawals, scheduled refunds to students and lenders, and managed bad debt levels.  I was also responsible for overseeing the annual budget and processing all invoices for payment.  I oversaw all aspects of the bookstore operations, as well as managed the Accounting Assistant.  As a manager, I had much more opportunity to change or improve processes, as well as implement new policies to help make students' experiences extraordinary!

This position started my career in the proprietary college industry.  I ran the campus bookstore at the Indianapolis campus.  I handled all student issues as they regarded to payments or financial aid.  I coordinated with other departments to provide answers to student queries.  I took student payments, managed late payments and passed out schedules for the start of each quarter.  I posted tuition and completed month-end reconciliation.  I took payments for other departments and collected money for student activities, such as Dress Down Day and graduation announcements.  I assisted Corporate Financial Services as needed.  I also wrote for and edited the campus newsletter.

I began working at Bloomers during my sophomore year of high school and continued coming back during school breaks or vacations.  I learned so many valuable skills here, such as how important it is to work with people I enjoy and to have a boss who leads by example.  I began as a fresh flower processor and cleaning person and moved all the way up to florist, customer service, and assistant manager.  I will always have a special place in my heart for this wonderful small business.
