Summary

There is a picture of me (not here) reading John Steinbeck in dusty workclothes with Chanel sunglasses on while relaxing on a tractor.

I come from a small town but have always had big-city ambitions. Riding motorcycles, getting dirty, helping out with the rest of the family to fix things or build things or tear things down -- that was my childhood. I've taken this well-developed work-ethic and I've moved to a city with goals of "fixing things, building things, or tearing things down," but in a more metaphorical way this time. Now, I want to nurture my naturally creative spirit and solve problems for clients. I am equal parts left-brained and right-brained, and I seek a company that challenges me to use both.

In my two-years marketing experience, I have served a variety of clients -- from consumer to government -- and recognize the unique needs of each sector. I am currently looking for more creative opportunities where I can utilize my strong writing skills and strategic thinking into a results-driven campaign.

Although currently residing in Washington, DC, I am available to relocate to New York City, NY; Seattle, WA; Sacramento, CA; or San Francisco, CA without assistance, and am open to discussing opportunities in all other cities.

Assistant Account Executive

Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide

Clients; Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and The National Kidney Disease Education Program (NKDEP) through the National Institutes of Health.

Both accounts incorporated an integrated marketing strategy but in two very different ways. With the IRS, I participated in brainstorming sessions for the campaign then coordinated efforts across multiple departments to ensure timeliness and consistent messaging of all campaign assets. From PSAs and a partner toolkit to web site copy and SEM, each asset was born from thorough research -- a feat that I led and then condensed into a presentation for the client. I also helped copy writing efforts for a variety of media. Throughout the campaign, I also tracked the effectiveness of all collateral through various channels. For our efforts, I drafted the entries and submitted our campaign to two awards: first winning a "Certificate of Excellence" in the PRSA Thoth awards for our integrated marketing strategy; and secondly, an internal Ogilvy award for our exceptional client service.

NKDEP is Ogilvy Washington's largest government contract and my role was to link various silos into a cohesive effort. Although not a "traditional" marketing account, the campaign did incorporate a web site, Facebook page, and e-newsletter, for which I drafted or helped to draft content and all distribution. I also led co-branding efforts of our print collateral across government agencies, serving as the point of contact. I managed several databases, including contact information and materials distribution from our off-site warehouse and on-site storage. Throughout the summer, I attended multiple conferences and events to distribute materials directly to nurses, doctors, and other relevant health professionals. As a team, we met weekly with the client to provide individual updates on campaign progress.

Corporate Communications Intern

MWW Group

Clients: Sara Lee, Inc (Ball Park Franks and Jimmy Dean), 1-800-FLOWERS.COM, Gold's Gym, Everlast Worldwide, Molesafe, and others

As an intern, my role exposed me to the public relations campaigns of a large number of clients. During my 10-months at MWW Group, a leading mid-sized agency, I became a trusted partner in serving the needs of clients.  My strong writing skills were frequently utilized in drafting press releases and media advisories, and because I am good with numbers, I also managed the databases for press coverage and contacts. I also helped to pitch stories to reporters, via telephone, email and fax.
