Operations Leadership Intern

The duties of any internship participant is focused on process improvement efforts, which is something that can be applied to any job. My internship was in operations and supply chain. At the introduction stage, all of the interns went through Associate Week where we learned every process at the Indianapolis facility, traveled to understand other Amazon requirements in Kentucky and what where the associate's role in this scheme.As associates, we shadowed Area Managers and Operations Managers, performed safety audits to make sure that associates were being safe, scheduled carrier appointment requests to bring freight into the facility, worked on different projects, and even led stand up meetings. I also was able to take over daily duties of our Area Manager in support of the Operations Manager.

Started Tournaments, scheduled tee times, handled counter for golfers and restaurant customers, aided in league play organization, morning opening and evening closing.

Identified as reliable, dependable and experienced,  I was provided with increased responsibility of hole placement duties.

Additional activities were given for mowing greens and fairways as my work habits proved to be respected.

Schedule was 5 days from 6 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as well as early hours on Saturday and Sundays.

As I move towards graduation day in December 2012, my summer internship with and other related experiences will prove to be a valuable asset to me when I join the organization full time in early 2013.My most immediate goals are to conclude my educational experience at a high level and allow my work ethic and commitment to create the next chapter of my life supporting industries in Logistics & Supply Chain..In addition, I intend to build on my strengths in communication, leadership, problem solving, time management and decision-making as enhancements to my BS Degree in Food Industry Management. Following graduation, I plan to utilize the building blocks of my personal and professional life to guide me in my career, extending my growth beyond myself and into more of a team atmosphere.Sharing this direction with certainly lead me to my future goal of attaining an MBA to create a more refined business and professional backgound.
