Strategic Procurement Specialist - Mining

Vale

Vale was established as a state mining company in 1942 and was privatized in 1997. This process drove the company into a complete corporate reorganization and set an aggressive movement of modernization and expansion in many businesses. In 2006 Vale acquired Inco, becoming the world's 2nd largest mining company with operations in all continents and also businesses in steel, logistics and power generation.

The reflex in the Procurement department is seen by an accelerated learning and profissionalization process in order to handle the increasing responsibilities to support company’s continuous growth. This environment demands all my accumulated experience, and at the same time, offers the opportunity to take part in market-relevant initiatives, negotiating with global suppliers’ senior executives.

  • Leading the development of Global Strategic Alliances for Vale Group supply in the categories of mobile mining equipment, i.e. Off Highway Trucks, Loaders, Excavators, Drills, etc.
  • Developing alternative sources, focusing low cost countries.
  • Report: subordinated to the Strategic Procurement Manager - Mining and leader of 2 analysts.
  • Spend: US$ 450 mln/yr in 2008.
