Leo Kan serves as Director of Choral Music at Eaglebrook School, located in Deerfield, Massachusetts. In this role, he draws on 16 years of experience in music education, piano performance, and choral music. As a pianist, Mr. Kan has served as an accompanist for Indiana University ensembles and other groups. His most notable accomplishments as a music educator include providing students with the opportunity to perform with the American Boychoir. Mr. Kan’s students have also performed the National Anthem at Fenway Park many times. Over the course of his career as a pianist, Leo Kan has served as a Rehearsal Accompanist for the Indiana University Pro Arte Singers from 2007 to 2008. He played pieces composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Benjamin Britten, Henry Purcell, John Sheppard, Heinrich Shütz, and Sven-David Sandström. From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Kan worked as an Accompanist and Assistant Conductor with Indiana University All-Campus Choir. He featured works from Ralph Vaughan Williams, Leonard Bernstein, Vincent Ludwig Persichetti, Eric Whitacre, and Daniel Pinkham. He also served as an accompanist for several Indiana University chorales, the San Francisco Boys Chorus, the Menlo Park Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir, and Peninsula Women’s Chorus. Leo Kan earned his Master's degree in Choral Conducting with a Minor in Organ Performance from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and his Bachelor's degree in Music from Cornell University. While at Indiana University, he received the dean's scholarship. He also served as a member of honor societies at Cornell University, where he graduated magna cum laude. Mr. Kan holds membership in a 20-member faculty chorale. He also serves as a Chinese teacher, dormitory advisor, and head of a Chinese student club. An exceptional piano player, Leo Kan's performance earned him recognition as a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music.
