Growing up in the Greater Los Angeles area turned out to be the best thing ever because everything was so close to me. The beach, the city, but most of all -- the mountains. I spent a lot of my high school years taking trips to and from the mountain, because after that one day out on the snow, in jeans, snowboarding for the first time, I knew I was hooked. Snowboarding led to skateboarding and now, no matter what season it is, I have some sort of board in the back of my car.
High school was spent taking science classes and prepping for a career in the biology field. All of a sudden I had Photoshop and Illustrator on my computer and found myself staying up late at night creating website designs for my friends and their blogs. Really simple stuff, but this turned out to be the beginning of finding my second passion.
My time in college was spent half in the classroom and half on the mountain. I've never stopped snowboarding and skateboarding and over the past 3.5 years I have been making moves to combine my two passions: boarding sports and graphic design. I am constantly on the search to expand my skills both on and off the snow and believe me, I can take the hits as they come. Persistence is clutch and I am not afraid of a challenge.
I have also spent 4-5 months traveling (from late August 2008 to mid January 2009) and I can now say that I have literally been around the world. I have visited over 14 countries, some of which the culture has been driven by action sports such as Namibia (sandboarding) along with South Africa (surfing) and Japan (snowboarding). I would love a career that combines my two passions of design and action sports in a location out of the states.
