Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist Lea Shappee has devoted her career to the pursuit of others’ health, and her efforts have culminated in Nutrition Health Services, a private practice where she leverages her considerable expertise as a nutritionist to consult people and assist them in accomplishing a multitude of lifestyle and fitness goals. Offering such programs as general nutrition counseling, sports nutrition, child and adolescent nutrition, metabolic testing, cholesterol/lipid management, and DNA testing for genetic variations, among others, Lea Shappee’s services present an integrated approach to health designed to help clients attain optimal wellness and health. Shappee offers practical advice about eating and exercise, but the services provided are not tailored for a solely diet-based approach. Rather, she coaches clients on the physiology and psychology underlying wellness and nutrition issues so they can sustain changes in their health despite the challenges ahead. As a dietitian and food sensitivity therapist, Lea Shappee possesses extensive knowledge on how the human body operates. Her services can be as specific as providing information on a balanced diet for gluten-sensitive clients or the correct supplements for athletes and as broad as providing general nutrition counseling for just about anyone. Shappee’s programs can help clients with special nutritional needs or ailments, parents with “picky” children or newborn infants, and clients and families attempting to treat eating disorders. She offers services aimed at improving health, preventing disease, and increasing mental well-being long after consultation. Shappee’s qualifications include a degree in dietetics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a degree in business administration from John H. Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa. She has worked in the industry for over 35 years and is currently a member of American Dietetic Association, the Florida Dietetic Association, and the Pinellas County Dietetic Association.
