Philosophy of Education

I enjoy working with and being around people of all ages. My talents include playing the piano and creating art (sketching, sculpting, painting). Outside of the arts my favourite subject to learn and teach about is science - especially the biology of living things. My job as a Student Technological Assistant during my year at Nipissing University taught me that I am also interested in learning about new technologies that can be applied in the classroom. I enjoy teaching workshops and troubleshooting computer problems.

Cover Letter

Dear Selection Committee,

I have recently completed my Bachelor of Education at the Nipissing University Schulich School of Education and have created this visual CV with the hopes of attaining a primary or junior position in the Thames Valley School Board or the London District Catholic School Board.

I grew up in the London District Catholic School Board and found it to be a nurturing environment in which I flourished. I believe a classroom is like a family and would love the opportunity to instil my catholic morals upon my students in an exciting and engaging manner.

I believe I possess the competence to effectively teach all subject areas and have a background in art and science. At Nipissing, I learned valuable lessons about assessing, evaluating, integrating and most of all differentiating. I attended courses that covered all the core subjects as well as courses based on education technology, special education, classroom methods and management. The most valuable aspect of my education at Nipissing was my access to educational technology. I graduated from a laptop based program and worked as a Student Technological Assistant to assist my peers. I got to experiment with all kinds of assistive technology, creative applications and even assist teaching workshops. I am experienced with data projectors, SMART Boards and Response Clickers, for example.

Thank you for considering me as a candidate for one of your teaching positions. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss these and other qualifications with you in an interview. If you are interested you are welcome to contact my references. I can be reached at 519-615-8181 or [email protected]
