Using an innovative teaching method that integrates important life skills as part of each swimming lesson, La Petite Baleen Swim Schools have taught children to swim under the motto of “Pace, Pattern, Compassion, and Fun.” For three decades, La Petite Baleen has been a national leader in blending child development with aquatic training. The staff believes that swimming can be used to teach young children how to overcome adversity, respect themselves and others, listen and communicate more effectively, develop self-discipline, and work cooperatively in a team environment. La Petite Baleen also adheres to the idea that in order for children to enjoy their swim lessons, parents must play an integral role. For this reason, parents are kept informed of their children’s advancement through interaction with staff members, progress reports, and newsletters. La Petite Baleen features a wide variety of classes for students of all ages, including babies, toddlers, teenagers, and adults. Striving to be as inclusive as possible, the school offers classes for advanced swimmers and swimmers with special needs. In addition, semiprivate and private classes are available. All classes are led by highly experienced swim instructors. They are taught the school’s overarching philosophy and regularly attend in-house training sessions as well as those put on by organizations such as the United States Swim School Association, the Swim for Life Foundation, and the World Aquatic Baby Congress. La Petite Baleen has schools in three locations in California, including San Francisco, Half Moon Bay, and San Bruno. Weekly, 30-minute classes are offered year-round.
