Director, Mariners Extended Residency (MER)

A 144-bed treatment center for homeless men with addictions consisting of a residential program with 80 beds, a transitional housing program with 36 beds and an extended residency program with 28 beds.

Oversaw daily operations of extended residency program; established new initiatives, supervised staff and interns, administered budget, completed monthly and annual reports, provided individual and group therapy, supported growth of organization through management team participation.

  • Advanced leadership abilities.
  • Maintained program capacity of 28 clients on a continuous basis, extending hope and caring to clients according to their feedback.  Modeled healthy behaviors, both physically and emotionally.
  • Helped raise over $12,500 in donations for annual fundraiser.
  • Proposed and assisted in implementation of highly successful annual adopt-a-family program in which homeless men provided gifts and food for families in need during the holiday season.

Health Management Systems of America (HMSA)

A privately held independent corporation providing both mental and behavioral healthcare services to employers in both the pbulic and private sectors on a regional and national level.

Managed a regional office of an employee assistance program (EAP) consisting of 25 federal agencies with an employee base of 8,000 people.  Marketed EAP program, designed and conducted trainings, advised directors and managers, dealt with employees in crisis, provided short-term counseling and/or referrals, facilitated critical incident debriefings, facilitated groups to resolve organizational issues, and managed 25 contractual staff.

Key Accomplishment

  • Saved approximately $40,000 annually by instituting a cost-effective strategy for progam management.
