I was born and raised in Albany, NY in a Christian home to Benjamin Odom and Delila Jacobs and began singing the gospel of Christ at a young age in the family singing group. I served as Minister of Music at several local churches in the Capitol District and was Founder and Director of the Odell Wesley Surgick Ensemble from 1981 - 1994. During that time, the group recorded our first single, "God Is Not Through With Me Yet."
Since that first song, I have written many songs and give all the glory and honor to God.
One of my proudest moments in life occured in 1991 as one of my songs, "Blessed Be The Name" was sung by a 1,400 voice choir at the Hampton University Ministers Conference/Choir Directors Guild in Hampton, VA. That same song was introduced at the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America in a music seminar.
On September 17, 1995, I was licensed and ordained into the Gospel Ministry by my Pastors, Donald and Rose Stuart at the New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church.
I am a wife and proud mom of four - Three sons, one daughter, four grand daughters and one grandson.
My passion at this time is my involvement with the drama ministry at church and my music. I've written and produced monthy skits (God's Conference Room) and plays ("Born to Die" and "The Gift"). "The Gift", was performed on December 12, 2008 and was a great success. The house was packed out and several people were so touched by the message that they came forward to accept Christ as Lord of their lives. I am excited about being used in this capacity. I feel like I have finally stepped into my real purpose. My goal is to continue writing skits and plays and writing music that will touch the hearts of people. I know that lives can be changed through this venue.
