Public Relations is an art form in which a balance of creativity, vision, accuracy and results is vital.

I chose this field because of my love for writing, my ability to communicate with others and my belief that every organization needs an effective awareness plan. As a recent college graduate, I am eager to "make my debut" in a field that is essential, and a nice touch, to a company.

Public Relations is a vast field with many different opportunities and ventures, and I am open to any type. Ultimately, I would like to provide my communications skills for either a non-profit or performing/visual/music arts organization. However, I am interested in corporate, government or firm positions.

Public Relations Intern

Oklahoma Department of Tourism

The Tourism Department provided me the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the great things Oklahoma can offer. As an Intern, I aided in the development of the following tactics:

  • Compilation of media/press kits
  • Compilation of statewide press releases on the Web site and Vocus PR software
  • Pitch stories for local and national travel and food magazines

Most importantly, I wrote a travel article that was published in The Oklahoman, which can be found in my portfolio section.

Awareness Campaign

Senior Capstone Course

Client: Opportunities Industrialization Center of Oklahoma County, Inc. 

  • A non-profit organization that provides low cost education for anyone 16 years and older.
  • GED courses, computer skills training, literacy classes, life skills and drug prevention
  • Self-paced program
  • Most students are high school dropouts, single mothers, or adults who did not attend college


  • Develop an awareness campaign targeted at donors, Board Members and media outlets
  • Utilize strategic planning, research and implementation
  • Plan and host three events
  • Develop publications including PSA's, backgrounder, fact sheet and press releases
  • Compile all research, planning, publications and results into a 100-page campaign book
  • Present all material, using Power Point, to instructor and client

Our 5-member team chose the slogan "The WRITE to an Education". This slogan supported our vision of the importance of education and second chances. We used the "human interest" approach in our material, in order to generate interest from our target audiences.
