Fieldcrest Elementary Music Teacher

Prairie Hills School District #144

PHSD # 144 District Music Coordinator, K-8 Vocal, 5 - 6 Instrumental, K-6 General Music, K-4 ESL, and Special Needs Music Therapy Instruction, Lisa Adrianzen, Principal.

At Fieldcrest Elementary school, I also obtained three grant opportunities from DonorsChoose.org and also from Target Field Trip Grants.  I created many new opportunities for our students by introducing them to opera and baroque instruments such as the recorder.

We played African drumming compositions in our 6th grade classes and learned about good character traits at the same time.  Our 5th grade students had the opportunity to create their own musical compositions using the iMac that I brought from home.  4th grade students learned to play recorders after the grant from DonorsChoose.org was kind enough to grant our wish for classroom instruments and music stands.  Our 2nd and 3rd grade students learned to play on Harmonica's as well as many other classroom instruments to get them excited about musical opportunities in the future.  Kindergarten and 1st grade students got extra visual attention from the wonderful music symbol rug we received.

I am skilled in both instrumental and vocal private lessons as well as group lessons.  Students wishing to learn a new instrument always have the opportunity to learn on a one-on-one basis before or after school hours.

Recommendations & Collaborations

Objective

I believe that I possess the qualifications to be an effective teacher for your elementary school.  I want to provide students with a life long passion for music and the knowledge of a well-rounded musical experience.

Leadership, team-building, and cooperative skills gained over the past ten years in the field of K-12 music education have provided me with the necessary knowledge to effectively organize and lead classes and activities.   My participation in a wide variety of activities and my enthusiasm for whatever job I am assigned, make me an excellent candidate for this position.

I have worked in urban areas as well as rural areas with less fortunate children.  I can easily adapt and change my lessons to include all learners.  Excellent classroom management skills are also one of my many assets.

My most valuable attributes include a strong work ethic, an ability to relate and work well with the community and colleagues as a team, and a very outgoing and positive personality.
