I have been developing brand strategies for social media for over a decade. Through consulting, coaching and education I provide assistance to entrepreneurs, small business owners and coaches in developing their marketing and social media strategy.

In 2016 I launched Markyr Cannabis to empower and educate cannabis entrepreneurs on traditional marketing strategies as well as the rules and regulations they must follow to be successful with online marketing.  In 2017 I launched Women Entrepreneurs in Cannabis  to give women in the industry  the support and community they need to succeed.

My work has focused on using the principles of community building and has been  featured in The New York Times, TechCrunch, NPR and Entrepreneur magazine. Entrepreneur Magazine called me a ‘Social Media Pioneer,’ for my work spearheading the revitalization of the The Roxy Theatre and the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles

I wrote the Blog 101, a beginner’s guide to blogging and was a contributor to The Power of Real-Time Social Media Marketing by Beverly Macy. I've guest-lectured at UCLA and USC and have spoken at a number of conferences, including Digital Music Forum West, Blog World, ASCAP Expos and SXSW. My work has been featured in top tier media outlets including TechCrunch, The New York Times and NPR. I'm a contributor at  Cannabis Business Times and I've been featured in Marijuana Business Magazine, Cannabis Business Times, High Times and Women @Forbes for my work in cannabis.

Kyra Reed Productions

Freelance Marketing and Management

Social Media Consultant: 2006-2008

Introduced The Roxy Theatre to social media and created a strategy that encompassed their online and offline engagement with music fans.  My challenge was to revive the aging club and make it relevant with a younger market with a very small budget and major opposition from the music industry in Los angeles.  Using the tenants of Community, Collaboration and Engagement, I devised a strategy that enabled The Roxy Theatre to re-brand itself.

Personal Branding Consultant: 2006-2008

Worked with Roxy Theatre owner Nic Adler to create a personal brand that represented his new role as a leader in Social Media.  Arrange panels for him to speak on, guided and shaped his voice and messaging, educated him on important technology and websites.  Worked with him to help him "walk the talk" of being a community leader.  Results have been Nic is now speaking on close to 50 panels per year, internationally.  he has been featured in the NY Times, NPR, Tech Crunch, Mashable, Entrepreneur Magazine, Fast Company, and many other blogs and publications.  He has been awarded the Beacon for the City of West Hollywood and Hipstimatic has created a special "Nic Adler" lens in their packages.

Writer/Blogger: 2005-2008

Maintained weekly updates to  Commentary on the intersection of music and technology.  Wrote the ebook "Blog 101: The Beginners Guide to Blogging"  which sold nearly 3k copies via a partnership with TuneCore.

Band Manager: 2003-2006

Managed the day-to-day operations of two Portland bands; Stars of Track and Field and The Upsidedown. Booking tours and shows, maintained their financial records and managed their income, built partnerships with other bands, venues and music industry professionals to help advance the careers of the bands.  Was responsible for developing strategy around their image and album release, eventually Stars of Track and Field was signed by Wind Up Records and The Upsidedown was signed by The Dandy Warhols record label Beat the World.

 Market Research:  2002-2007

Worked with Marketing Research firm Epiphany Research conducting and analyzing surveys for clients such as New Balance, McDonalds, Capital One and a variety of smaller brands.  I was responsible for managing databases of surveys, making calls to potential survey candidates and designing the content of the surveys.  I assisted Epiphany in evaluating the collected data, turning it into a report and delivering it to the client.

Kyra Reed helped me go from seldom posting to looking like a professional on social media.  I came to Kyra with the limiting belief that I’m much too old to learn new tricks. I told myself that social media was just too hard to master.

Kyra made me believe in myself and she always believed in me. Kyra makes things easy.

Kyra delivered more than she promised by coaching me through branding, values and services that I offer in my business.

Because of Kyra,  I now have the confidence I need and it’s actually fun to create these posts.  Kyra and Markyr Digital has definitely taken my business to a new level.

She is a gifted teacher and consultant. "

Siobhan O'Neill

I've had the pleasure of working with Kyra in an invited-collaborator role. It's impossible to overstate the passion, enthusiasm, and above all, intelligence with which she approaches complex challenges.

She brings a keen eye, a deft pen, and a sense of humor to the creative environment. I really look forward to exploring deeper partnership opportunities on future projects - this lady makes magic on the regular and who wouldn't want to be part of that?

“Kyra is sharp! She really knows her stuff when it comes to social media and how to get excellent results. She's also well-connected and can marshall her network into action in ways that leverage synergies into a "win" for everyone.

If you're looking for a someone who will get the job done and leave everyone with a feeling of having received value, Kyra is an excellent choice!”

Adam Gilad

“Kyra is sharp, informed and AMAZING. She is the first Social Media Consultants I met - and with her expert help, we created an unprecedented and successful private social network for author David Deida.

Kyra helped to me pick a platform, manage my community and organize the content. She is incredibly knowledgable about the social sphere and was able to guide me through some confusing situations with ease.

With her help, I was able to create a 500K launch in only 2 months. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a digital strategy, especially when it comes to the social aspect. she is great to work with and passionate about what she does. She not only has high altitude to plan out strategy but knows the trenches and can help you execute day to day tactics to grow your business or your brand. Plus she's really really really nice!”
