Summary

I have been developing brand strategies for social media for over a decade. Through consulting, coaching and education I provide assistance to entrepreneurs, small business owners and coaches in developing their marketing and social media strategy.

In 2016 I launched Markyr Cannabis to empower and educate cannabis entrepreneurs on traditional marketing strategies as well as the rules and regulations they must follow to be successful in online marketing.

I co-founded Women In Cannabis, a support group for female entrepreneurs because I'm dedicated to ensuring that women entrepreneurs in cannabis have a seat at the table in the industry.

My work has been featured in The New York Times, TechCrunch, NPR and Entrepreneur magazine. Entrepreneur Magazine called me a ‘Social Media Pioneer,’ for my work spearheading the revitalization of the The Roxy Theatre and the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.

I wrote the Blog 101, a beginner’s guide to blogging and was a contributor to The Power of Real-Time Social Media Marketing by Beverly Macy. I've guest-lectured at UCLA and USC and have spoken at a number of conferences, including Digital Music Forum West, Blog World, ASCAP Expos and SXSW. My work has been featured in top tier media outlets including TechCrunch, The New York Times and NPR.

Social Media Consultant: 2006-2008

Introduced The Roxy Theatre to social media and created a strategy that encompassed their online and offline engagement with music fans.  My challenge was to revive the aging club and make it relevant with a younger market with a very small budget and major opposition from the music industry in Los angeles.  Using the tenants of Community, Collaboration and Engagement, I devised a strategy that enabled The Roxy Theatre to re-brand itself.

Personal Branding Consultant: 2006-2008

Worked with Roxy Theatre owner Nic Adler to create a personal brand that represented his new role as a leader in Social Media.  Arrange panels for him to speak on, guided and shaped his voice and messaging, educated him on important technology and websites.  Worked with him to help him "walk the talk" of being a community leader.  Results have been Nic is now speaking on close to 50 panels per year, internationally.  he has been featured in the NY Times, NPR, Tech Crunch, Mashable, Entrepreneur Magazine, Fast Company, and many other blogs and publications.  He has been awarded the Beacon for the City of West Hollywood and Hipstimatic has created a special "Nic Adler" lens in their packages.

Writer/Blogger: 2005-2008

Maintained weekly updates to kyrareed.com.  Commentary on the intersection of music and technology.  Wrote the ebook "Blog 101: The Beginners Guide to Blogging"  which sold nearly 3k copies via a partnership with TuneCore.

Band Manager: 2003-2006

Managed the day-to-day operations of two Portland bands; Stars of Track and Field and The Upsidedown. Booking tours and shows, maintained their financial records and managed their income, built partnerships with other bands, venues and music industry professionals to help advance the careers of the bands.  Was responsible for developing strategy around their image and album release, eventually Stars of Track and Field was signed by Wind Up Records and The Upsidedown was signed by The Dandy Warhols record label Beat the World.

 Market Research:  2002-2007

Worked with Marketing Research firm Epiphany Research conducting and analyzing surveys for clients such as New Balance, McDonalds, Capital One and a variety of smaller brands.  I was responsible for managing databases of surveys, making calls to potential survey candidates and designing the content of the surveys.  I assisted Epiphany in evaluating the collected data, turning it into a report and delivering it to the client.
