Volunteer Experience

As a student member of the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics I have the opportunity to volunteer on the Kids Eat Right Campaign.  I have prepared and given presentations to preschools to educate children and teachers about My Plate and healthy eating.  I have also written letters and contacted government officials on issues related to child nutrition.

Goals

In the short term I plan to complete the Didactic Program in Dietetics at The University of Alabama, thereby obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree.  After graduation I will apply for an ACEND-accredited Dietetic Internship Program.  Upon completion of the internship I will sit for the CDR registration examination.  

My long term goal is to become a Certified Diabetes Educator.  Becoming a Registered Dietitian is the first step in this process.  I will look for work in clinical setting educating patients, preferably pediatrics, about diabetes management.
