Summary

As an educator, multimedia journalist and social commentator, I have worn many hats in my work and social endeavors. I am happy to say that each lend unique insight to my primary objective of informing and challenging young minds.

  • Administer SHE management system in accordance with AS4801
  • Update and maintain OH&S and quality assurance to AS/NZ standards
  • Actively monitor implementation of and adherence to Safe Work Instructions
  • As site Contractor Manager I delivered site safety inductions to ensure compliance with Maritime Transport Security legislation and state OH&S legislation.
  • Perform daily labour allocation and determine plant & equipment requirements.
  • Identify, develop and coordinate in-house training programs in conjunction with National Training Manager
  • Post op consulting with accounting to ensure all chargeable delays and services have been reported as contracts.

Achievements:

  • Attempted to standardized PCC and Sofrana planning strategies for ALL Shift Managers aimed at establishing consistent operational reporting  to better measure KPIs.
  • Elevated the ability of colleagues to meet time critical projects and operation targets by providing planning templates and Vessel Progress Reckoners.
  • Attempted to incorporate HACCP approach to PCC Performance to elevate quality of operations
  • Introduced various initiatives tailored to better servicing PCC clients (eg: use of protected broom for sweeping of lashings, ferry car ID system, established client email groups for planning staff to better manage communications)
  • Assisted Contractor Management Facilitator to draft an ‘Audit Tool' to monitor site contractor performance (January 2005)
  • Undergone current ‘Safetrac Legal Training' via Minter Ellison 2005
  • Insight gained during post graduate project work and NYK field trip to Singapore/Lam Chebang promoted concept of enhanced capacity planning to accommodate practical considerations of and where leverage points may exist in automotive distribution network.

  • Vessel Planning and Terminal Management for AAA South Asia Service. Utilised SPARCs and OMS cargo management systems to monitor cargo traffic through terminal.
  • Performed daily labour allocation along with plant & equipment requisition to meet operational demands.
  • Liaised with incumbent mechanical contractors and National Maintenance Manager re: maintenance program for Patrick owned/leased equipment.
  • Supervision and fostered development of new employees via National Training Instruments.
  • Direct client liaison for setting proposed work programmes and subcontractor engagement as appropriate. Oversaw coordination between TasRail and Road Transport traffic to manage R&D ops.
  • Support role for Container Depot Operations Manager, Frank Piscioneri. Dealt with all aspects of yard management, quoting, invoicing and inspection quality assurance along with AQIS liaison.
  • Member of OH&S committee for each port and responsible for Operations Risk Management Initiative.

Achievements:

  • Headed up Risk Assessment Teams and SWI development in SAP (Safety Accountability Program) pilot programme as it pertained to Conventional Lo/Lo Ops.
  • Oversaw the drafting of first Safe Work Instructions for Container Repair and Depot Facility (to become benchmark for Patrick Port Services on mainland)
  • Lead project team in drafting Bell Bay Traffic Management Plan as part of Certificate III in Frontline Management.
  • Achieved highest Tasmanian score (2002) in obtaining IICL Container Inspection accreditation. - Patrick Container Depot, Bell Bay
