Effective from 2012, I am heading the sales & marketing division of Metrod. I am  looking after sales of all products in all markets supported by a strong sales team. Under my stewardship, Metrod has reached greater heights by growing 20% in annual sales in 2013 & is on target to achieve 25% further growth in 2014 with wider footprints in Australia & India.  I report to President & Managing Director.

Metrod is a multinational engaged in manufacturing of Copper products with operations in Asia, Europe & America. It’s a public limited company with corporate head-quarter in Malaysia with majority shareholding from Metdist PLC, UK. The company has recently hived off its European & American operation.

My role was to steer initiatives towards achievement of organisational goals & vision with chief responsibilities pertaining to Strategic Planning, Sales, Business Development, Key Account Management for all products from its Plants in Malaysia supported by a team of sales personnel. In addition, I supported the global operation by identifying new products, markets and business opportunities in line with its goal of business proliferation and related diversification. I was reporting to Executive Director - Commercial.

Significant Highlights:

  • Identified Continuously Transposed Conductor for transformer industry as potential market, based on which Metrod eventually acquired Asta, Austria and became the global leader in that field.

  • Reviewed Indian market of speciality copper conductors for Hydro, Turbo & Windmill Generators and submitted investment proposals for Asta India. The project is currently under implementation.

  • Identified the Insulated copper strip Business as an opportunity in Malaysia; successfully kicked off the business and attained market leadership within a short period of 3 years.

  • Studied & submitted investment proposals for speciality conductors for solar energy business.

  • Currently surveying the Asian market of Copper foils for cable shielding tapes & other applications.

  • Under my leadership, Metrod attained over 40% market share in all Product & Market segments.

  • Managed sales with annual business worth approx USD 500 million.

Praxair is the world’s second largest manufacturer of Industrial Gases with sales revenue of over USD 9 billion

Spearheaded Strategic Planning, Sales, Business Development, Key Account Management for Cryogenic Gases (Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon & Carbon-dioxide) across Western India.

Significant Highlights:

  • Adopted strong growth strategies through application engineering, augmented product-service offerings and market penetration.

  • Championed 25% annual sales growth in 2000 over 1999 in Western India.

  • Developed key clients across the Metal, Chemical, Petrochemical, Food & Beverage industries.

  • Generated business for On-site Cryogenic Plants on Build Own Operate basis with several customers.

  • Kick started the Food segment business; developed new markets for freezing and transportation of Marine, Bakery, Dairy Food products using cryogenic gases.

Drove Sales of Hot Rolled, Cold Rolled, Galvanized Steel Sheets and Plates in East Indian markets.

Significant Highlights:

  • Successfully launched products and achieved the leading position next to SAIL within a year.

  • Pivotal in developing the Dealer network for Rural Marketing of Galvanised Corrugated Sheets.

  • Developed an Outsourcing Facility for normalising steel that brought in business of Rs. 4 million per year.

  • Managed annual business worth Rs. 30 million. Chief focus was new customer acquisitions through market penetration and establishment of long term customer relationships.

Foseco India Limited

Foseco is a global leader in the manufacturing of Speciality Refractory & Metallurgical Chemicals supplying to Steel Mills and Foundries based in 34 countries worldwide.

Interacted with the cross functional Matrix Team from Manufacturing, Production Planning, Commercial and Sales to maintain and improve profitability of Continuous Casting Refractory for the Steel industry. Additionally responsible for Product Launch in coordination with the Field Sales Team and Technical Support.

Significant Highlights:

  • Successfully launched a new product - TUNCAST, used as Continuous Casting Refractory in the Indian steel Industry after taking extensive trials at Tata Steel, SAIL, Mukand etc. Today this is the most accepted and established technology for such application.
