Intern / Architect 1

SmithGroup

Work at SmithGroup began as an internship through the award of a scholarship during the final year of graduate school from the company. The internship focused on providing a wide range of experiences. Some of the work included schematic design reports, preparation for interviews with potential clients, construction documents, AIA award submissions, and documentation of existing buildings to be renovated.

After the formal completion of the internship, work became focused mainly on a large project in China which is being taken through the design development phase. The entire project is being completed in Revit.

May 2008 - Aug 2008

Intern

Gensler

This summer internship focused on providing experience with the design of a local community group's updated facility. They were using an old bank building as an office, and it needed to become a community center as well as function as private office space. The building was located in a rough neighborhood, and needed to be a welcoming environment for the community as well as provide security for the office. The main focus of the building's renovation was the interior design. The project was designed and modeled using Revit, and renderings for the client were created using a combination of Adobe products.

The design was presented with an award later in the fall, and the group is working on funding the project.
