Summary

`

Currently, I am serving as Director of Scouting & Player Development for Men's Basketball at the University of South Alabama.  USA is a NCAA Division Program that participates in the Sun Belt Conference.  Prior to USA, I served as the first Head Coach in program history at Frederick Douglass High School in Lexington, Ky.  Douglass just finished its 3rd year of existence.  Last season was our best (42nd District Champs, Region Semi-Finals, Toyota Tournament Champs, and 21 wins!)  Previously, I was head coach at Mercer County HS.  We finished as Region Runner-Up, District Champions, Clash of Titans Champions,  and with 25 wins after losing all but one player from previous year and arriving on campus in October while continuing to operate a successful individual improvement business.  Prior to that I was the Head Coach at State Runner-Up Hopewell High School.  I am also a 20 year college coaching veteran that has demonstrated success at NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA basketball.  I have served as a successful head coach at NJCAA and NAIA levels.  Every team that I have been associated has increased wins and/or experienced record setting success during my tenure and/or the immediate years after my departure.  I am most proud of the track record of my former players/recruits not only in the classroom and on the court, but more importantly in the game of life.

Skills

RECRUITING

Over 60 professional players. 26 All-Conference selections. 10+ Academic All-Conference performers. Named by Basketball Times as one of the Top Junior College Recruiters in the Country.

PROGRAM BUILDER
Every program that I have been associated with has broken records for  wins, post season success, and academics.   Individual success in the form of all-conference, all-academic, all-american, all-region, leading scorers, and professional were also part of the success.
FUNDRAISING & MARKETING

In my two stops as a college head coach, my programs broke all records for attendance both single game and season.  This was accomplished through community involvement, media relations, social media, game promotions, and speaking engagements.  Also, I have been involved in fundraising records as a head coach and assistant coach (most notably assisting in raising $80,000 in new money at Arkansas Tech).

SKILL DEVELOPMENT

Over 60 professional players, 26 All-Conference selections along with running a successful skill development business.  At Mercer, we took a group that only had one player with varsity experience and turned them into a 25 win team along with Region Finalist after only arriving in October.  Our Hopewell team had 11 players who had no varsity experience and turned them into a State Runner-Up Team in one season.  Skill development was key in this.

Community and academics
My teams have won numerous awards for academics and I have never had a player become ineligible as a head coach.  My community involvement has been tremendous.  We work with such programs as veterans, Special Olympics, children causes, animal causes, and education among others.  I also make myself and student-athletes available for speaking engagements and other community events.
