My responsibilities as CIO of the fastest growing Internet Company in Ohio (#1 in 2009) included business strategy development, technology infrastructure management, execution of business initiatives, and running the IT department. The company was under severe stress due to technology issues and I was enlisted to quickly assess the problems, examine the strategy, operations and financial drivers to identify areas of high-yield IT improvements and achieve a dramatic turnaround.


Business Strategy Development

·Exceeded Revenue Goals -- 300% growth from $4.8M to $15M in revenue in seven months by leading enterprise change initiatives

·Business Model Innovation -- opened up new sources of revenue through new lines of business, and fulfilled 95% of demand for our goods/services through enhanced acquisition and distribution strategy, involving complex integrations with suppliers, evolutionary (DNA genome based) bidding strategy, search engine optimization, and highly efficient distribution strategy. Created an online high efficiency and availability (redundant architecture) lead trading system processing 10,000 transactions a day and capable of handling up to 100,000 transactions per day.

·Customer/Business Relationships – Developed 200 new relationships. Increased the number of partners and affiliates from 300 to 500.   

Technology Infrastructure

  • Reliability -- Increased the reliability of IT infrastructure from 99% availability to 99.5% triggering a net savings of $100,000
  • Productivity -- Standardized Call Center environment (desktops, dialer applications, sales center, agent center) for enhanced productivity
  • Compliance -- Implemented a rigorous process to ensure security (after denial of service attack), compliance (PCI & HIPAA), and fraud detection and reporting (traced supplier fraud to China and shut off affiliate accounts).

Business Initiatives

  • Open Source Strategy -- promoted open source strategy to reduce infrastructure costs and enhance productivity (completed 30 projects -- exceeded software delivery by a factor of 4)
  • Business Process Alignment -- Improved business strategy execution by tightly aligning corporate strategy and financial drivers with IT software development and rapid deployment processes.

Running the IT Division

  • Managing multi-location and international teams(Columbus, Chicago, Poland)
  • Tripled the IT budget, and doubled the team size
  • Achieved culture change from chaotic software development to a dynamic, fast paced, and performance based culture focused on rapid development and deployment of quality applications

Recognized and commended by the CEO for turning around the IT team from near "ruin" to a high performance team fueling the blazing pace of growth and exceeding business goals and revenue objectives.

Passionate visionary with extensive experience leading to full spectrum of business operations with profit and loss responsibility. Proven track record of delivering innovative and cost effective solutions coupled with achieving high customer satisfaction. Established an off-shore software development center and several business practices to serve over 100 customers in Telecommunication, Government, HealthCare, Logistics & Distribution, Manufacturing, and Education industries. Served as Senior IT Manager, SAP Expert, and Project Manager.

Chief Executive Officer


Established an off-shore software development center in India. Nurtured, trained and built a team of software professionals with expertise in Networking, Telecommunication (Interactive Voice Response, Messaging, Speech Recognition, and Linguistics) and Internet Technologies. Sustained an average staffing level of over 25 associates and successfully completed over 60 projects to date for various clients, including companies like, Lucent Technologies, Avaya Communication, COTA, HealthServe, State of Ohio.

Established an IT Staffing division with support staff – on vendor lists for well known companies and Government agencies. Obtained certifications (MBE, GSA, STS, and DBE) and established excellent customer relationships translating to over 400 staff engagements to date.

Formed a Managed Services Division which serves as an on demand IT department for small to medium sized businesses in Central Ohio. The managed services include Network support, desktop administration, monitoring of business critical equipment, and offering security and protection to the network while the customers focus on their core competency.

Successfully created a Medical Transcriptions outsourcing business, called DrResponse Division, grew it over two years and sold it to the largest Medical Transcriptions Company in town.

Offered hosting of custom applications and software applications/solutions developed for customers from SoftQuest premises in Columbus, Ohio with service level commitments for uptime for business critical applications.

Created intellectual property and product lines – ORTUS® Smart Assistant™, ORTUS ® E-mail Reader and several Interactive Voice Response Applications. Successfully refocused and re-engineered the company from product to solutions/services focus with the demise of the era.ORTUS® continues to serve as a platform for application development.

Technical Staff

Bell Laboratories

Established and managed a research and development center in India. Established R&D Center in India in 10 months, in record time for a large organization. Achieved the projected ROI on the business case in 18 months. Lead a multi-national team, provided leadership and support for various activities such as Government permissions, tax holiday, legal contracts, capital goods, custom bonding, desktop computing environment, development laboratories, networking etc. Trained and nurtured new employees to achieve technical excellence which is the hallmark of Bell Laboratories.

Business Planning, Concept Evaluation, R&D Budgets Proposals, Solution Technology Planning, Project Management for Multimedia Messaging and Response Products for the international market place. Received recognition/award from Vice-President of Business Unit for excellence in planning work – tripled the funding from previous year, created offers targeting twice as many countries from previous year, for complete product line (small to large solutions for target market).

Project Management and co-ordination of development and desktop environment conversion from Amdahl Mainframe and terminal emulators to SUN Workstations and high speed Ethernet computing. Reduced expenses from $15M to $2M, managed a team of 10 people, trained 150 users, and received an award for outstanding performance.

Software development and build co-ordination. Reduced build cycle time by one third using Process Quality Measurement and Improvement techniques (PQMI). Delivered zero defect software.

Software Development Life Cycle Roles: Database Lead Engineer, Retrofit Lead Engineer, Feature Development Engineer, Technology Transfer Engineer, Test Engineer. Created a database from scratch for 50M records to offer services such as: AT&T Universal Card Calling (part of VISA/Mastercard now), 800 services (free phone), 900 services (pay per minute). Worked on Fraud detection and reporting.
