As the former Executive Director of the Texas Association of Builders and the Manager of the award winning Sunbelt Builders Show, Kristi Sutterfield brings extensive expertise to her conference management consulting role for the annual Texas Housing Conference. The Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers, a nonprofit association made up of tax credit and market rate builders, developers, lenders, syndicators, attorneys, CPAs, consultants, and vendors, hosts the three-day annual event in Austin, Texas, the last week of July. Attendees have over 20 education sessions to select from, and several sessions had standing room only. The Conference is an important venue for attendees from across the United States to network; additionally, there are exceptional advertising opportunities. The 2011 Texas Housing Conference had more people in attendance since the event’s inception, raising the largest revenue to date and receiving rave reviews from the attendees. Kristi Sutterfield has helped plan and implement the Texas Housing Conference since 2008.
Prior to assuming independent consulting responsibilities for the Texas Housing Conference, Kristi Sutterfield was the highly respected Executive Director of the Texas Builders Association. Known for her winning leadership style, effective marketing talents, and partnership-building skills, she was the recipient of the 2007 Executive Officer of the Year award, bestowed by the National Association of Home Builders. Kristi Sutterfield began her career as a real estate broker selling properties in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, where her sales acumen earned her a coveted position in Red Carpet Real Estate’s ranking of the Top 10 Real Estate Agents in the United States. Although she kept a real estate practice on the side, she sought a career in the corporate sector. Landing a Project Developer/Marketing Director position with Bon Terre Residential and Hunt Oil Company, Kristi Sutterfield managed the marketing and sales programs and served on the construction teams of several master planned communities in Texas to include Fossil Creek in Fort Worth, Hyatt Hill Country in San Antonio, Lake Pointe in Austin, Watters Crossing in Allen, Team Ranch in Benbrook and Sun Creek in Plano.With its diverse responsibilities, this job offered opportunities to interface with the building industry across the state, where she sold lots to high-production and custom-home builders. With extensive knowledge about the building industry, Kristi Sutterfield pursued a position with the Greater Fort Worth Builders Association as their Executive Officer and Government Relations Director, which preceded her role as the Chief Executive of the statewide association.
Outside of her present-day consulting and real estate businesses, Kristi Sutterfield is a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church congregation, and her favorite charity is the local Ronald McDonald House. She stays fit with a regular workout schedule. Traveling and attending sporting events with her twin sons, Hunter and Fisher, are among Kristi Sutterfield’s passions.
