Kristen Lafferty spent her high school years as a student at the Brent International School in Manila, Philippines. She divided her time between a rigorous International Baccalaureate program and the school’s track and cross country teams. Kristen Lafferty set school records in the 1,500-meter and 3000-meter events during the 2007 season. In 2008, she broke her own records with a time of 5:23 in the 1,500 and 11:31 in the 3,000. The school named Kristen Lafferty its track and field MVP for 2007 as well as Girl Athlete of the Year for her class. After she graduated from high school, Kristen Lafferty moved to Chicago to attend DePaul University. The school, founded by the Vincentians and located on the city’s north side, operates as the largest Catholic university in the United States and the largest private university in Illinois. As she enters her senior year at DePaul in autumn 2012, Lafferty will pursue the completion of her psychology degree. An excellent student, she received Big East All-Academic recognition in 2010.Kristen Lafferty participates on the varsity cross country and track teams at DePaul. She ran in three major meets during the 2011 spring season: the Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville, Illinois; the DePaul Division 1 Invitational; and the Illinois Intercollegiate in Champaign, Illinois. At the latter indoor meet, she achieved a personal best at the 3,000 distance with a time of 12:14.33.In her spare time, Lafferty enjoys a variety of outdoor sports. She runs, snowboards, scuba dives, and enjoys riding a wakeboard, an activity similar to waterskiing. Travel also ranks highly on her list of leisure activities.
